Stink: the smell of cars in Los Angeles. The only constant is that it’s there and it’s always ready to remind you of what an oppressive, smoggy, traffic-filled city this is.
We are thrilled to offer STK Under the Stars at our poolside restaurant while we observe social distance dining at STK Los Angeles. All STK reservations prior to 3pm will be offered the Hideout menu. STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while smoky mirrors allow patrons to catch a glimpse of the surroundings while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Los Angeles is located in the heart of Westwood at the W Hotel Los Angeles- West Beverly Hills. As anticipated, steak is the main attraction. STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options and market fresh fish entrees.
: STK’s tagline is "Not your daddy's steakhouse." Well, if your daddy likes a modern and vibrant ambience, he’ll love it. And Mom will enjoy this high-energy, sexy steakhouse, too, which also has branches in New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta and London. The entranceway from La Cienega, which seems designed to house a velvet rope and beefy doorman, leads to the patio and popular bar area. The main dining room features black and white tones, curvy leather banquettes, and theatrical lights illuminating each table. For a more intimate dinner, choose the "bistro room" awash in black and lavender. The meat-centric menu offers grilled steaks in three sizes, but even a "small" New York strip weighs in at ten ounces. (The large bone-in version is 26 ounces.) Lighter eaters can nibble on a six-ounce skirt steak or petite filet, while our "medium" fourteen-ounce bone-in filet hit the carnivorous spot. Each steak comes with a sauce like a satisfying herb béarnaise or creamy horseradish; optional toppings like shrimp, crab or lobster tail seem like gilding the lily. There are plenty of seafood options among the appetizers, salads and entrées; we particularly liked the perfectly cooked snapper in a shiitake-ponzu brown butter. Try the Brussels sprouts and Parmesan truffle fries as sides, and end with donuts if you saved room. Despite the cavernous size of the room, which was packed when we last visited, meals arrived quickly and service was friendly and attentive. The wine list, which explains each varietal, emphasizes California wines, and there are about two dozen available by the glass. We recommend starting with a signature cocktail such as the strawberry cobbler --- Grey Goose vodka and muddled fresh strawberries with a graham cracker crusted rim --- because diners come here for fun as well as the food.
