FutureStarrLittle Big Town Songs
Not that Little Big Town is the only country band in the world, but they have a unique sound that is sometimes associated with being a “proud American” band. Little Big Town’s sound is a mix of old and new country music.
Little Big Town is an American country music group. Founded in 1998, the group has comprised the same four members since its founding: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman (formerly Roads), Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. Their musical style relies heavily on four-part vocal harmonies, with all four members alternating as lead vocalists.
Little Big Town (LBT) is one of country music's most lovable acts. The resilient four-piece vocal group wins hearts of critics and fans alike, while still earning the ear of country radio and the respect of industry peers. Little Big Town's four-part harmonies are simply unmistakable.
With songs like 2013’s darkly poignant “Your Side of the Bed,” 2014’s blockbuster ballad “Girl Crush,” the Taylor Swift-written “Better Man” in 2016, and last year’s Christian-feminist plea “The Daughters,” Little Big Town have become country’s music’s most thoughtful incrementalists, a group that somehow scored their biggest hits on country radio after all four members were well into their forties, with music (Seventies soft rock imbued with country-gospel harmony) that often feels determinedly out of step with the band’s contemporaries.

The country vocal quartet had just released its latest album when it recorded this session for Mountain Stage. A year later, the band is primed to begin its first national headlining tour, Grammy nomination in tow.
