Muppets a christmas carol

The Muppet Christmas Carol is a 1992 Christmas film directed by Brian Henson (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Jerry Juhl. Adapted from the 1843 novella A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, it stars Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside Muppet performers Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Jerry Nelson, and Frank Oz. Although artistic license is taken to suit the aesthetic of the Muppets, The Muppet Christmas Carol otherwise follows Dickens's original story closely. The rooftops are all agleam, and our Christmases seem a-glitter, with all the lights and the feasts, and gifts filled. . . . From far and near, filling the night with jubilant sounds, there is music everywhere, and bustling and laughter--all our hearts are filled with this happiness.

Christmas

At one o'clock, Scrooge is visited by the childlike Ghost of Christmas Past, who takes him back in time to his childhood and early adult life, with Dickens and Rizzo hitching a ride too. They visit his lonely school days and then his time as an employee under Fozziwig (Mr. Fezziwig in the original story, played by Fozzie Bear), who owned a rubber chicken factory. Fozziwig and his mother throw a Christmas party, where Scrooge meets a young woman named Belle, with whom he falls in love. However, the Ghost shows Scrooge how Belle left him after he chose money over her. A tearful Scrooge dismisses the Ghost as he returns to the present.

Awakening in his bedroom on Christmas Day, Scrooge decides to surprise Bob's family with a turkey dinner and ventures out with Bean, Dickens, Rizzo, and the charity workers to spread happiness and joy around London. Scrooge goes to the Cratchit house, at first putting on a cold demeanor before revealing he intends to raise Bob's salary and pay off his mortgage. Dickens narrates how Scrooge became a second father to Tiny Tim, who escaped death. Scrooge, the Cratchits, and the neighborhood celebrate Christmas. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)

The song was included for subsequent American video releases and TV airings of the movie prior to the 2012 Blu-Ray edition, which only includes the theatrical cut albeit with a different edit of the sequence. This version of the film has since aired on ABC Family and was released theatrically in 2020. The song is also removed in the UK and Region 2 DVD release. The issue of this cut was discussed by director Brian Henson in the film's DVD audio commentary recorded in 2002 (again, except on the UK DVD release, which omits the commentary as well).

The scene was included as an extra when the film was released in the iTunes Store, and on Disney+ in 2019."Our agent, Bill Haber, said to me: 'Christmas Carol' is the greatest story of all time, you should do that," second-generation Muppet creative Brian Henson recalled to The Guardian in 2015. "While I was thinking about it, he called me back and said: 'I've sold it to the ABC TV channel.'" His own hand and those of others forced, Henson got to work adapting and envisioning Charles Dickens' most famous work for television, before realizing that the project would be more suited for the cinema.
