His first breakthrough film role came in Boyz n the Hood, in which Gooding played the lead character Tre Styles. The film, which grossed $57.5 million in North America, also starred Ice Cube and Laurence Fishburne and told the story of three young men living in the Crenshaw ghetto of Los Angeles. No, because I grew up in a situation where I had people telling me what to do and what not to do. You have to experience a lot of (crap). I talk my brother's ear off when he calls me; but for the most part, I don't reach out and say "Hey, why are you doing this?" I let him figure stuff out.
