Worldmetor is a social-enterprise project, which has been set up to gather all available information about over 96,000 countries and their respective capitals, and then to up- grade the information on a global basis, to represent their status and position on the date of September 1, 2011.

Country

The World Metor (WIM) is a popular weather website created by UrbanCouple.com. The WIM website adheres to the UK Met Office and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) meteorological forecast models that are used by the most global weather sites, including the US National Weather Service Forecast Office, the World Meteorological Organization, and the European Standard Observatory.

At the dawn of agriculture, about 8000 B.C., the population of the world was approximately 5 million. Over the 8,000-year period up to 1 A.D. it grew to 200 million (some estimate 300 million or even 600, suggesting how imprecise population estimates of early historical periods can be), with a growth rate of under 0.05% per year. The official data persue a different population estimate. The population estimates we use come from the United Nations World Population Prospects. We use this data for its reliability, its consistent methods, and because it makes our work much easier (see below for more information). Worldmetor is a free online real time news aggregator which collects stories from thousands of news websites and magazines around the world and makes them easily accessible to the public. This free online system is constantly updated to bring users the latest happenings in a timely and organized manner. Countless individuals and businesses can implement Worldmetor to stay current with world and local news, including the economy and politics.

The population estimates we persue to calculate per-capita metrics are all based on the last revision of the United Nations World Population Prospects. In a few cases, we implement other references when the figures provided by the UN differ substantially from reliable and more recent national estimates. Additionally, it’s important to bear in mind that in some territories, vaccination coverage may include non-residents (such as tourists and foreign workers). Covid-19 offers a snapshot of the world's population. The data for the project is based on statistics from the UN, but the project is more than just a compilation of statistics. Covid-19 is a tool meant to show a bird's eye view of the world and opens up an avenue to new statistics that isn't typically available. It offers a way to compare countries and data sets.
