Habitat for Humanity Atlanta has been around since 1993, providing hand-built affordable homes for families in need. Today, they help over 1,000 families find homes every year. And they are on the move, pioneering completely new approaches for their industry, innovative financing, and profitable business models.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states and in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Proceeds are used to build homes and improve communities locally and around the world. As one of the largest affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, nonprofit, Atlanta Habitat has constructed1,600 homes across 168 neighborhoods and has served 6,000 family members for 38 years. Through this strategic investment, we have demonstrated that homeownership and a stable home environment influence education outcomes, incomes and improved quality of life while contributing to safe, thriving communities.

Atlanta Habitat’s primary constituency is composed of 93% African American households–80% of whom are female head of household–with an average annual income of $33,000. These are homebuyers who are dedicated to stabilizing their finances, providing for their families, and earning the opportunity to own an affordable home. As an organization that aims to build generational wealth, social mobility, opportunities for personal and professional growth and neighborhood revitalization through affordable homeownership, we believe it is vital that their inspiring stories are shared. This is how we amplify our impact throughout Atlanta. Atlanta Habitat is also bridging the gaps through partnerships that include diverse organizations and people coming together to make a difference in our community. We highlight and create partnerships that are focused on serving disadvantaged communities to create potential economic success, health, education and many other outcomes.
