If you’re on the second floor of the St. Regis Atlanta in Buckhead, you might hear Atlas before you see it. Live music plays Wednesday through Friday, spilling out into the hotel. Step into the restaurant, and you’ll immediately notice two things: the library and the art. The former is to your right, with a crackling fireplace and shelves stacked with Atlanta-based books such as A Man In Full. At the host stand to your left, an original oil painting by Claude Monet hangs on the wall. As you’re led to your seat, you’ll pass the glamorous bar area known as the Tavern at Atlas, where cocktails are shaken and musicians play. Beyond it, the vaulted main dining room has jaw-dropping art by Picasso, Chagall, and Matisse. Craft cocktails are inspired by the restaurant's featured artists, such as the Monet-themed Water Lilies drink (Avion silver tequila, passion fruit, basil, and lime). Atlas is a mainstay in Atlanta—how has it influenced the food scene since then?

Many say the food at Atlas single handedly reinvigorated Atlanta’s fine-dining scene. Need convincing? Start with the amazing young sprouts salad, which incorporates sunflower sprouts from a local farm. For your main dish, try the sorghum-glazed duck breast with farro, beet-strawberry puree, and hakurei turnips. Even if you just want casual dining, Grossman fries up some pretty insane crispy chicken fritters with black truffle aioli in the Tavern. What's a night at Atlas best for?
