Alex Mikhaylov is an old human man living alone in the Human World who takes Emma in and gives her supplies and a place to stay after she developed amnesia due to the promise she forged with "Him". Alex's name is revealed in "The Promised Neverland offscene 027". It's also revealed in the offscene that Alex is the one who wrote the book "The Mechanical Engineering and Human History" which has a copy placed in Grace Field House's library. Alex once lived a happy life with his wife and daughter in a cold country which no longer exists. He also had some friends he cherished. However, he lost his family and all of his friends in a war; he was the only one who survived. He has since lived alone in his home, spending his days honoring his deceased family members and friends. Alex is an elderly man with a tall and full-bodied stature. He has wavy, ear-length, light-colored hair with a long beard and mustache. He is often seen wearing fur coats with different patterns. Alex is a very kind, caring, and level-headed man who is always ready to lend people a hand. This is emphasized when he took Emma in and gave her a safe place to stay after she forgot all about herself and her memories. He is patient with her amnesia and hopes that she will one day regain her memories and reunite with her forgotten family. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)

Despite his distant disposition, Ray is able to interact well with the orphans and is fiercely loyal and caring to particularly Emma and Norman. (Source:

He thus mingled with the two often and created warm memories with them; such as talking with a sickly Norman through a tin can alongside Emma, (Source:

Furthermore, he is very blunt and honest, as when Norman is trying to figure out a way to break it to Emma that Ray was the spy all along, Ray abruptly comes out with it before Norman has the chance. In some cases, he considers it a kindness to be blunt, rather than alleviate the truth or give people false hope. He was also motivated by cold logic and reason, and he figures the best plan for success is to take the smallest group possible, even if that group doesn't include himself. While he worked extremely hard for six years to make sure that Norman and Emma could escape safely, he had to sacrifice a great price, possibly his other siblings that were shipped out. Ray is one of the three oldest children living at Grace Field House and, like Emma and Norman, is 11 years old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. He is known for being an avid reader with high intellectual abilities, blunt skepticism and cunning. Being the only biological child of their caretaker, Isabella, he did not experience childhood amnesia, confirming his suspicions about the existence of demons and true nature of the house later when he was 6 years old. Ray becomes Isabella's spy in exchange for goods and the promise that he, Norman, and Emma will not get fed to demons until their 12th birthdays. He pledged to use the remaining years of his life to orchestrate an escape plan that would lead to his two best friends finding out the truth themselves. After a confrontation with Norman, he becomes the children's trump card just as Isabella betrays him. Although initially unwilling to accept Emma's unrealistic goal of escaping with every child, he vows to never give up on them after their escape succeeds.
