Today, an issue that is faced by a lot of companies is a process that is a lot more hands off. This problem comes from the fact that it is now so much easier to create a product or service now without having to worry about R&D or manufacturing. One way to be creative is to invest in something that you know is going to die off as soon as it is killed.


Welcome - we are ready to serve you online! We offer a variety of merchandise: computers and computer accessories, furniture (desks, file cabinets, tables, chairs, bookcases, etc.), household items, bicycles, scientific equipment and glassware, and much more. While our storefront is closed due to health guidelines, we are selling on web-based auction sites, primarily the website Public Surplus.

If you receive an email noting you have won the item, you will have the option to pay over the phone or at the time of picking up the item(s). We accept MasterCard, Visa, cash and check. OSU Surplus Property is not able to process payments online due to Oregon State Treasury guidelines. The winning bidder has seven days to pay and pick-up purchases. (Source: fa.oregonstate.edu)

Public Surplus requires a $50 bid deposit on each auction over $500, but this is only charged if you win the bid but do not pay for the item.

UConn Departments can now visit the Surplus Department for their office needs. All UConn employees can book an appointment time online at the website listed below. Each block will be for 15 minutes in order to accommodate everyone’s needs. Departments must provide KFS information at time of visit so items can quickly and easily be transferred to your respective departments, this is for departments only, no personal sales at this time. Questions can be directed to surplus@uconn.edu Surplus hours will be Tuesday and Thursdays between 1-3PM and be limited to 2 people per department and appointments are required. If you arrive without a scheduled appointment, you will not be allowed into the building. (Source: surplus.ubs.uconn.edu)

Given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the directive from both Governor Lamont and President Katsouleas to practice social distancing and limit large group interaction, the University’s Public Surplus Store is cancelled until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience, but believe that it is in the best interest of all of our community customers to ensure that everyone remains safe and healthy. Asset Panda labels are now available through the Document Production Storefront. If an item you are looking to surplus does not have a barcode, you can order sheets of Surplus barcodes from the Document Production Center Storefront at no charge. )The Surplus Department is now using Asset Panda for streamlining the process of surplusing University property. Asset Panda is a free, user-friendly iOS and Android app that will improve tracking of tagged assets. All current KFS Capital Asset Management (CAM) processors should already have access to Asset Panda. For all others, please request access to Asset Panda by clicking on the following link: Asset Panda Access Request Form and launching the link for Enterprise Financial System Access Request. The access to Asset Panda is now electronic and can be submitted via this form.
