Wormwood Plant for Sale

A prestigious plant that grows in a compact, compacted and dry soil, does not like to have its roots disturbed from the ground. The yellow and green leaves cover the soil and the silvery green stems are dense and tightly woven. This compound occurs in two forms — alpha- and beta-thujone, which differ at the molecular level. Although these differences are small, they’re meaningful because alpha-thujone is considered more toxic.Long considered a hallucinogen and potential poison, wormwood was banned in the United States for nearly a century, from 1912 until 2007.

Artemisia comes from Ancient Greek á¼€ρτεμισία, from Ἄρτεμις (Artemis). In Hellenistic culture, Artemis was a goddess of the hunt, and protector of the forest and children. The name absinthum comes from the Ancient Greek á¼€ψίνθιον, meaning the same. An alternative derivation is that the genus was named after Queen Artemisia, who was the wife and sister of Mausolus, ruler of Caria. When Mausolus died around 353 BC, he was buried in a huge tomb dedicated to his memory – the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the ruins of which are still present at Bodrum in modern-day Turkey.Nicholas Culpeper insisted that wormwood was the key to understanding his 1651 book The English Physitian. Richard Mabey describes Culpeper's entry on this bitter-tasting plant as "stream-of-consciousness" and "unlike anything else in the herbal", and states that it reads "like the ramblings of a drunk". Culpeper biographer Benjamin Woolley suggests the piece may be an allegory about bitterness, as Culpeper had spent his life fighting the Establishment, and had been imprisoned and seriously wounded in battle as a result.

In one study, 10 people with the disease were given 750 milligrams (mg) of dried powdered wormwood three times a day for six weeks, in addition to their regular treatment. Ten other people who did not receive wormwood served as a control group. Among those who took wormwood, eight of the 10 reported fewer symptoms while just two in the control group said their symptoms improved. The study also found those who took the supplements had improved mood when compared with the control group.A small study showed that wormwood can improve pain and reduce swelling in the body. The research included 42 people who received either 300 mg of wormwood extract per day, 600 mg of the extract per day, or a placebo for 12 weeks. Participants who took 300 mg per day said their pain levels were better, but the other two groups didn't have the same effect. (Source: www.verywellhealth.com)
