FutureStarrStar Trek Attack Wing Future Expansions
The game that brought you giant monsters, holodeck malfunctions, and a colorful cast of characters from from both the Trek movies and the original series. This week, we survey the 2nd edition of Star Trek Attack Wing and see what lays in store for the future.
Many of the game's painted starship miniatures are very similar to those produced for the Star Trek: Tactics game but Attack Wing's Federation ships do not have names or registries painted onto their hulls, allowing them to represent more than one vessel of the same class. A number of the ships feature new paint schemes or are molded from translucent plastic. Unpainted versions of some of the miniatures were also released earlier in the Star Trek: Fleet Captains game and subsequently in the Star Trek: Frontiers game, the latter in a scaled-down form.
The Muratas is a Xindi-Reptilian Warship. These powerful starships are well-armed and equipped with thermal chambers in order to provide enough heat to maintain the energy of the cold-blooded Xindi-Reptilians. Compared to the generic reptilian warship, the Muratas gains a Weapon Upgrade slot and a Shield. When attacking, the Muratas may disable one Active Shield to re-roll up to 2 attack dice. Displaying the cold-blooded Xindi-Reptilian spirit, the Muratas is going to ensure they deal maximum damage to their enemies. (Source: www.startrek.com)
A Star Trek: Attack Wing Faction Pack includes four pre-painted plastic ships with cards, token sheets, dial connector pieces, bases, and pegs to accompany them. All the cards and tokens in this faction pack are brand new and allow a player to field a never-before-seen fleet right out of the box! This faction pack offers a fleet of four Klingon ships including a Negh'var Class ship, two K'tinga Class ships, and a B'Rel Class ship!
Star Trek fans, 2021 is already shaping up to be a pretty great year with lots of announcements, our favorite shows in production, and a slew of cool products coming our way. I last spoke with you to share the news of WizKids Games’ Star Trek: Alliance miniatures game, a cool new take on Attack Wing that you can play cooperatively and even solo with the innovative AI enemy system. But that’s not all; the company is releasing FOUR new Faction Packs for the standard game in these first few months of the year, and we’re going to take an advance look at two of them today: the Star Trek Attack Wing Federation To Boldly Go & Klingon Blood Oath Faction Packs! I’m super excited for these not only because they’ve got cool spaceships, captains, and upgrades, but also because they both feature content from my favorite series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
