The Star Citizen game is completed and massive in size, featuring a whole universe filled with thousands of planets that are supported with their own lore and stories to explore. The game is home to some insanely detailed and beautiful spacecraft that have been in the making for some years now, and just recently of course, in 2018. This article takes a look at some of the ships heading to the game as it approaches its release, including the future . . .

CIG offers pledge ships for cash in order to help fund the development of Star Citizen. The funding generated by such sales is what allows them to include deeper features in the Star Citizen world. Beyond the affordable starter ships, they will not be required to play the game. Not all ships are available for purchase at all times. It has been said that all ships will be available in-game after launch (although certain ships will be rarer than others and may not be purchasable from in-game dealerships), and many ships are already available for purchase or rental using in-game currency.

Update 13th February 2018, on the Roadmap we have 3.4 instead of 4.0. The main difference being that 4.0 originally encompassed concepts of traveling between star systems. Our estimation is that features to do with travel between systems will define 4.0 and will come in late 2019. Therefore our original estimates provided a year ago remain the same, except our estimate should be labelled for 4.0 instead of the original 3.4 terminology. The new 3.4 patch planned in the roadmap does not contain the features required to class it as 4.0. We provided no orginal estimate for 3.4 and therefore the content of our estimate still remarkably applies for 4.0 instead. (Source: scfocus.org)

Cloud Imperium has given us a big Star Citizen ship development update. We have a few more details on the Odyssey and what it sits on the Exploration Pantheon, the Banu Merchantman is in active development as are many other ships, let’s just right in with some ship and vehicle updates.

Almost certainly. Even just from a lore perspective it’s unlikely that an entire race would have just two ships, but from a practical point of view it seems that coming up with style guides and assets is a huge effort for CIG, and doubly so for the banu given how much work went into just the small Defender.
