Socialista is a representation of how the privileged pre-revolution Habaneros lived, a Caribbean playground, filled with the romance, excitement, music and flavors of the Cuban socialite culture.Inspired by the eclectic architecture of old Havana, the diverse interior combines colonial European influences with 20th century modernism. The design features French antiques and plantation style rattan furniture, covered in rich velvets and brocades, resembling a stately home that has stood still in Cuban History. It is a running joke that during Art Basel, Miami Beach becomes the 6th borough of Manhattan, and Thursday night’s celebration at Socialista’s Miami outpost was proof that this isn’t so much a joke as indisputable truth. The local Cipriani-owned watering hole had been reimagined as a pop-up location of American Bar, the beloved eatery located in Manhattan’s West Village, and many of its usual patrons were out in full force. At midnight, coming in droves from earlier celebrations put on by Chanel, Moncler, and Playboy, partygoers did, indeed, descend upon the venue in search of a nightcap. Some, like Sebastian Faena and Gary Sorrenti, were able to rustle up a late-night snack in the form of beef carpaccio and pasta for the adjacent kitchen servicing Cipriani Downtown Miami. The two creative minds later treated guests to an impromptu performance of songs from their recently-released EP, Save Your Life. Socialista, which launched back in 2016, has since grown to have locations in London, Dubai and now in the heart of downtown Miami. For the festive evening, guests enjoyed live music, Cuban inspired cocktails, signature dishes, and hand-rolled cigars. In fact, Socialista Miami draws on the strong Cuban influence of its host city. Guests also included rappers Bad Bunny and Travis Scott, Bella Hadid, Nina Dobrev, and Kourtney Kardashian. (Source: vmagazine.com)
