Hello, I have attached my CV/resume for your review and would love to have the opportunity to schedule a face-to-face meeting with your team to discuss how I can best contribute to your organization.

Keep it short and sweet and to-the-point. Keep a formal tone and keep it professional. Summarise your CV in about a few important points. Remember, this isn’t your CV. You cannot write in detail here. Give enough information for the recruiter to know what you’re specialising in and where your interests lie. Ask them to look into your CV for any further information. Keep the font simple (stick to the default font). Don’t use colours or font styles. Conclude the email with a salutation and remember to mention your full name with your contact number. This makes it easier for the employer to contact you whenever needed.

Signature: Your signature is where you will include all of your contact information: full name, address, phone, email, and your LinkedIn URL if you opt to include it. Make sure that your email address sounds professional: best case scenario, it will be comprised simply of your name: “john_doe@gmail.com.” Never use a “cutesy” email (“KatyCatWoman” or “Roger_ShadowMage”). You may want to create an email account dedicated solely to your job search in order to keep close track of your applications and employer responses. (Source: www.thebalancecareers.com)

We are in the 21st century where most of the communication part between employer and employee is done over the e-mail unlike the traditional methods of letters and applications. So writing an e-mail to your employer gives you the golden opportunity for you to demonstrate your communication skills and abilities to your employer. Communicating in a proper manner with an employer is of utmost importance as it can make a positive or negative impact on your personality on the employer or hiring manager.

A cover letter is a document that provides the information to the prospective employer about your educational qualifications, career goals, projects, and other key details in a very crisp manner. It is a document which quickly and directly communicates the position you are looking for in the organization so that the recruiter does not confuse two candidates who have the same qualifications. Also termed as a ‘Job Application Letter’, a cover letter for fresher must highlight one’s exceptional academic records and educational qualifications.
