FutureStarrFuture Stars Gymnastics Camp
Future Stars Gymnastics Camp was an unassuming beginning. Founded by Coach Irene, it was meant to be a place where children with special needs would feel accepted and nurtured. In less than four years, Future Stars has caught the attention of the gymnastics world, and its performance camps have attracted more than 15,000 football teams, day camps, and people from across the country.
The Future Stars program is intended to identify talented athletes exhibiting a strong caliber and quality participating in the JO Track (Levels 8, 9, & 10) and encourage their continuation and growth in Acrobatic Gymnastics program. Evaluation will occur annually at USA Gymnastics Championships and be completed by a Future Stars Committee. Future Stars athletes will be invited to attend a Future Stars Training Camp. This program will help to support both athletes and their coaches by providing dedicated training and education opportunities at this annual training camp. The goal is to recognize up-and-coming athletes and focus on developing skills to progress to the elite levels. This program does not include international competition opportunities.
The Junior National Development Team is determined through the use of a "Future Stars" National Championships/Evaluation held in the fall of each year. The competition targets the 10, 11, and 12-year old age groups of athletes and involves athletes being judged/evaluated on the six events using a basic skills compulsory routine composed of approximately ten basic skills elements placed together in routine form. In addition, there are events that involve evaluation on trampoline, flexibility, strength and body positions. The evaluations are done by a coach/Junior National Coaching Staff member and a NGJA judge working together to produce a score based on technique and execution. (Source: usagym.org)
We take great pride in our staff -- the catalysts behind all the growth & development, fun & games, and teaching & learning that our programs encompass. From beginners to advanced players, or novice to experienced campers, our staff is able to make sure all campers are given a camp experience that is both challenging and exciting. Each Site Director brings years of experience and expertise, providing guidance and help to all programs before, during, and after the summer. All programs are overseen by a director who is a qualified and experienced adult professional in their field and has a passion for working with children. Additional team members are experienced and gifted individuals who bring an array of special talents and energy to our programs and campers each summer. Approximately 65% of Future Stars Summer Camps Staff are certified teachers and coaches with the remainder typically being collegiate aged student-athletes who are education majors or looking to work with children in their careers.
All of our camp sites, SUNY Purchase College, The College at Old Westbury, Farmingdale State College, Future Stars Southampton at North Sea Park and St Joseph’s College, Patchogue, are exceptionally suited to meet the diverse requirements of the camp day. Some of the many advantages they provide are abundant field space, pools, studios, spacious cafeteria’s, ample parking, enormous indoor space for inclement weather, state of the art athletic facilities, gymnasiums and classroom space.
