Future Stars Day Camp St Elizabeth

Our #FSD2019 will take place from July 15 to 19. It began in 1980 as a day camp for children with special needs, but to incorporate innovation, the camp has since evolved into an annual event where attendees design, create, and act.

Program

Be The Best Sport is a 501(c)(3) adaptive sports program for children and adults who have intellectual disabilities as well as physical impairments. Be The Best Sport offers a variety of sports and programs that focus on exposing the participants to the world of sports and helping develop and strengthen their motor, cognitive, and social abilities. The athletes have the opportunity to learn the basics of each sport, through a hands-on multi-sensory approach. The program helps facilitate the building of sport skills, confidence, self-esteem, and sportsmanship, while meeting the needs of each individual. The motto is “Have FUN, make FRIENDS and always leave with a SMILE” and is what motivates Be The Best Sport each week to provide a great experience that the athletes will remember for a lifetime.

Nathaniel’s Hope Buddy Break is a free respite program where kids with special needs (VIP kids) make new friends, have fun playing games, hear and see great children’s stories, videos, music and more! Siblings have fun too! Meanwhile, their caregivers get a break from their ongoing care-giving responsibilities. Buddy Break is a growing outreach to the VIP community done in partnership with churches across the nation. Neighborhood Assembly of God in Bellmore is one of those partners and provides “Buddies” who are screened and trained, then paired one-on-one with a VIP during Buddy Break.
