FutureStarrFuture of Dancing With the Stars
As soon as Dancing with the Stars got a massive following back in 2005, rumours started that Meryl Streep would be joining the cast. As it turns out, this never happened, but it was rumored because of an incident a few years ago. The incident in question happened during an episode of Saturday Night . . .
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Alfonso Ribeiro was already a beloved “dancer” before his winning turn on DWTS Season 19, popularizing his character’s famous “Carlton” dance. The actor has followed in Bergeron’s footsteps, replacing him as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, in addition to hosting several game shows over the years. Staying within the DWTS family, he has guest judged on the show’s UK counterpart Strictly Come Dancing several times, often filling in for Bruno Tonioli. Beloved by the show’s fans all over the world, Ribeiro would make a great host for future seasons to come.
Julianne Hough rose to fame on the ballroom dancing competition series, taking home two Mirror Ball trophies and joining the judges’ panel from 2014 to 2017. She returned to the ballroom for the Season 30 finale, filling in for her brother Derek who was out due to COVID-19. Along with numerous acting, music, and judging credits to her name, she has plenty of hosting experience under her belt, having hosted The Disney Parks’ Magical Christmas Celebration and returning this year to host The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration alongside Ariana DeBose. A pro dancer has never hosted the show before, but Hough certainly has the qualifications to do so. (Source: www.tvinsider.com)
ABC’s Dancing with the Stars has been fortunate to have a loyal viewership and fan base throughout its 31 seasons on the air. While some seasons have generated more interest than others, the series is one of the few on television whose fans have remained dedicated. However, there appear to be some longstanding issues viewers would like to see addressed before watching the series new season. They discussed problems which they claimed held the show back over the past several seasons in a Reddit thread.
The show is coming off a fall run that saw its same-day ratings rise in the key ad demographic of adults 18-49. It was up about 9 percent in the demo, while its seven-day rating was even with the fall 2019 run — no small accomplishment in a time when many shows have fallen by double digit percentages from last season. Dancing With the Stars averaged 7.09 million viewers over seven days in the fall, down a little from 7.84 million in 2019 but in the upper third of ABC’s primetime series this season.
