Future Disney Plus Star Wars Shows

There's a lot of talk about Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney Plus. With it, they plan on producing multiple original, exclusive series that will span across a number of different genres and formats. Aside from a few, they've so far kept the specifics of their upcoming projects under wraps, but it's safe to assume we'll see shows like live action versions of Pixar movies, original, scripted television shows and original, scripted movies.

If you’re celebrating May the Fourth, or if you’re just randomly digging The Mandalorian and wishing that there was more Star Wars content on your TV every year, your wish is about to come true. Just like with their expanding lineup of Marvel super-shows, Disney+ has a bunch of Star Wars shows in various stages of production. Unfortunately none of them are The Adventures of Grogu Across the Galaxy, but maybe we can will it into existence through the Force.

Premise: Not much is known about Ahsoka. Rosario Dawson appeared in the episode “The Jedi” of The Mandalorian, and her live-action version of Ahsoka Tano is receiving her own standalone Star Wars series. In her episode of The Mandalorian, former Jedi Ahsoka is able to communicate with The Child, even learning its real name: Grogu. Her new series could pick up where this episode left off — Ahsoka was hunting down Grand Admiral Thrawn. But it could also be something entirely different. (Source: decider.com)

Fett, who has come back into Star Wars’ canon since The Mandalorian, having seemingly escaped the Sarlacc pit he unceremoniously fell into in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, played a key part in season 2, rescuing Grogu from Moff Gideon. Alongside his new sidekick, Fennec Shand, The Book of Boba Fett looks to explore their adventures after they part ways with Mando. We’ll get to find out more about the pair soon, as The Book of Boba Fett is set to debut on Disney+ at the end of 2021.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced a massive rollout of new Star Wars titles at the most recent Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day, including several series and films coming soon to Disney+. Upcoming films include Rogue Squadron, directed by Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins, and an untitled upcoming Taika Waititi-directed feature. There are also several new shows in the works, such as a Lando Calrissian series, Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor returning as the titular Jedi Master, and a limited series spinoff from The Mandalorian called Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson, reprising her guest-starring role as Ahsoka Tano.
