This is the hostess resume example I wrote. It closely resembles the resume format I would recommend for my sisters and friends. I would not recommend it for use on a job application.

Hiring managers often go through a large number of job candidates to find the right fit for their restaurant. By using information from the published job description in your resume, you can stand out from others applying for the same position. To narrow down which skills and work experience points to include, look for requirements mentioned toward the beginning or repeated in the job description. Focus on making your previous job description actionable so that hiring managers can get a clear idea of how you’ll perform on the job. Keep your resume clear and concise. Also, be sure to only include information relevant to the position you’re applying for.

Key skills and relevant action verbs can help general managers, maître d’s, and restaurant owners decide which candidate is right for an available hosting position. Including actionable vocabulary in your resume can showcase your workplace accomplishments in a way that helps you stand out. Some companies use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to search for relevant keywords in resumes and quickly filter through applicants. To increase your chances of getting called in for an interview, try to incorporate these relevant words and phrases in your resume.

However, the competition will remain high, especially for jobs at high-end establishments in major metropolitan areas. To help you stand out from other job applicants, you should take the time to craft a relevant and captivating resume. You’ll find resume examples for both entry-level and experienced hosting positions in this guide. Additional tips are offered to help you tailor your resume to a specific job description and highlight your most relevant skills.

Restaurants are constantly looking for Hostesses who can manage the flow of customers. This is important because a good level of customer turnover means more sales for the restaurant. On the side of the diner, they want to feel that they are being attended to. Never mind if the waiting time is long but if the Hostess can make them feel that the restaurant is doing its best to make the experience as great as possible, diners will remain placated.
