Brittany Zamora is a B2B Marketing Manager. From 2006 to 2009, Brittany managed her own revenue-generating website from her home. In 2009, she joined HubSpot where she has helped hundreds of companies take actionable, strategic content marketing and find increased revenue and growth. She has managed content marketing campaigns including website content, blog, podcasts, email marketing, grow content and content marketing automation.
Zamora, a former teacher at Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear, was arrested in 2018, when the stepmother of a 13-year-old boy noticed that he was acting suspiciously and wanting to shut his door at night. She installed a parental monitoring app called "Sentry" on his phone and subsequently began getting alerts about inappropriate texts, so she confronted the boy. He told his stepmother that he had sexual contact with his sixth-grade teacher.
In court documents first obtained by the Arizona Republic, authorities said that Zamora groomed the boy for sex through special attention, explicit texts and naked photos of herself. (Source: people.com)
Granted, in those days human life expectancy was much shorter than it is now due to a host of factors around modernization of infrastructure (read: phones, ambulances, EMTs, first-aid training, etc) and the lack of medical advancements at the time, so you had to get your life going at a younger age or you may not have much of a life.
I think all of us boys (and maybe some of the girls...Jodi, I'm looking at you) fantasized about getting some 'private lessons' from her. She handled it well, and was as professional as one could be when standing in front of a class of pubescent 12- and 13-year olds and talking about penises and vaginas, sperm and ovaries every day. "Ms. Zamora lures these boys, earns their trust and then takes advantage of them purely to fill her own sexual desires," the mother of the boy Zamora asked to stand watch while she had sex with another student said in court. "She used her position of power to molest a child. She's a pedophile and no different than if a man were sitting in her place right now."\

What is reported in the news is the bare minimum surrounding this case. What we do know is that any grown adult having sex with their teenage students is not doing it for any innocuous or good reason. The emotional damages and trust issues that follow situations like these once the victim realizes how they were manipulated or used cannot be understated. This is why it's rape--if the victim understood what was happening beyond it physically feeling or looking good, they wouldn't want to have sex with that person. An adult can probably see manipulation or abuse clearer or faster.
This is why we have statutory rape laws, and this is why people in positions of trust need to be punished harshly, especially teachers. They have easy access to vulnerable, naive students. It's their responsibility to figure out whether or not they can handle it without fucking, raping, molesting, and abusing their students. She could've used his trust in her to try and give him guidance in the right direction--to improve his grades, to attend college, to reach out to a counselor for help with his family situation--but she just sent him further down the pit he was in. That is worthy of 20 years of prison...she only got 4. (Source: www.reddit.com)
