Alabama and Georgia Game

In college basketball, you see a lot of wildness. There’s the first round game between Alabama and Georgia with 16 turnovers, 18 free throws, and 1. 7 points a minute. When it is over, the game has been delayed twice, 1) for 6 minutes due to blown out scoreboards and, 2) for 10 minutes when the Alabama player was kicked out for elbowing.

On December 4, 2021 the two teams met again for the Southeast Conference Championship Game in Atlanta. Georgia was undefeated and ranked number one in the nation at the time while Alabama had one loss and was ranked number three. Alabama again prevailed, 41-24, this time dominating the majority of the game. After both teams prevailed in their national semifinal matchup, the teams again faced off on January 10, 2022, in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, marking the shortest span between two successive matchups in the rivalry. Georgia won the National Championship with a 33-18 victory. This marks Georgia's first National Championship since 1980. It was also Georgia's first win over Alabama since September 27, 2007, snapping a seven-game losing streak against Alabama.

The playoff, which currently features four teams each season, could still grow in the coming years and inject hundreds of millions of dollars a year more into the richest conferences in college sports. But the addition of games as soon as the 2024 season is increasingly unlikely after months of turmoil, with the negotiations complicated at different moments by disputes over potential compositions of the playoff field, fears of protracted seasons and mistrust that flowed from a surprise round of conference membership shuffles.
