Future Stars Day campers experienced an immersive workshop teaching them the basics of tomorrow’s careers. Future Stars celebrated its fourth year of summer camp with an all-day career expo where students learned about future careers and how to prepare for them.

Summer

Our summer staff hiring process goes like this: First, we recruit awesome college students to apply. Then they send an application, background check information, and three references: one from a spiritual leader, one from a teacher, and one from their choosing. They finally have an interview with the Cedar Crest Program Director and if they are hired they participate in staff training. This includes safety/safe sanctuary procedures, CPR/First-Aid for the Professional Rescuer, child behavior through different stages of development, faith formation benchmarks, learning the summer schedule, and how to be the best counselor ever.

Summer Place. The University of Hartford offers four exciting summer camp programs for children from pre-school through twelfth grade. Camp Jewell YMCA Our nationally-known resident camp program provides youth ages 7-16 with an opportunity to feel a part of something bigger than themselves. To many youth, the world of today can seem overwhelmingly complicated to navigate. Camp Jewell reminds them all that success boils down to surrounding yourself with good people who actively show caring toward one another. Campers learn that every challenge is easier when you are confident in who you are as a person, and that this confidence comes from knowing you are truly cared about by more than just your immediate family.
