Future Star Wars Movies 2022

After the release of 2019's "Star Wars: Episode IX" and "Star Wars: Episode X," the world girded for the release of the film that would bring the epic space opera to a definitive close. One has to wonder how J.J. Abrams and co. will once again bring the story of the Jedi and Sith to the big screen, and what new characters, old and new, might power it.

The Rogue One prequel series centered on Diego Luna's rebel spy, Cassian Andor, officially has a title -- Andor, appropriately enough -- and is billed as a "a tense nail-biting thriller." Set prior to the events of that film --"during the formative years of the Rebellion" -- the 12-episode series will see Cassian, alongside returning characters like K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), set out to "restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

The next "Star Wars" movie heading to theaters should be Patty Jenkins' "Rogue Squadron" project, which is expected to be like "Top Gun" but with X-Wings. Via Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy previously teased the film will "introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing high-speed thrill ride." She also added, "The legend of Rogue Squadron has been long beloved by fans and will move us into a future era of the galaxy." (Source: www.looper.com)

While shows like Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi made it onto the Disney+ 2022 calendar and are, as far as we know, in no danger of being removed, other announced projects have seemingly faded into oblivion. What’s going on with the Lando Calrissian-focused series? Is Taika Waititi really still working on that movie we were promised? And wasn’t there supposed to be a series about droids?
