In response to the complaints several social activists, led by Ted Hayes, an advocate for the homeless, called a news conference demanding an investigation of the Dream Center. After visiting the Dream Center, however, and being given a tour of the facility, the activists concluded that the accusations were groundless. In fact, they were found to be from a smear campaign. "There is no basis to the complaints we've heard," Hayes said, "The horror stories reported to us do not exist." (Source: en.wikipedia.org)

The Dream Center Foundation is dedicated to funding programs that address issues that are widely recognized as chronic societal problems. Our mission is to reconnect economically and socially marginalized people to a community of support by providing human services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, domestic violence, human trafficking. Son of Pastor Tommy Barnett, best-selling author, and pastor of what Time Magazine considers one of the three largest churches in America, Pastor Matthew Barnett has learned powerful principles of ministry which gifted him in founding the Dream Center in Los Angeles. An inspiring series offering a real-life look at the impactful work God is doing in the inner-city of Los Angeles, Dream Center is a powerful docudrama centered around a community of people changing lives by serving others in order to move past their own personal tragedies. Through compelling testimonies, captivating reenactments and inspirational messages, Dream Center challenges us to look beyond our pasts and step into our futures with hope, finding true purpose in life by making a difference in the world. As Matthew Barnett, the host and head Pastor of Dream Center states, "Never grow weary in the fight to rescue the most forgotten." 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Dream Center is truly the church that never sleeps.

Despite being one of the largest and wealthiest states in the US, California leads the nation in poverty rates, the number of people experiencing homelessness, and the largest shortage of affordable rental homes. Additionally, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority released the results of the 2019 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, which showed 58,936 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, representing a 12% rise from last year’s point-in-time count of 52,765. The city of Los Angeles saw a 16% rise to 36,300. Additionally, The Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs and Health published in 2016, warned “The effects of substance use are cumulative and costly for our society, placing burdens on workplaces, the health care system, families, states, and communities”. These accounts affirm the need for and importance of the Dream Centers' work to address the immediate and long-term needs of poverty, hunger, homelessness, addiction, abuse, and education. The Dream Center Foundation (DCF) maintains a staff of diligent executive officers with decades of experience in providing care, assistance, and support to vulnerable individuals and entire families. Our dynamic development team works toward our goal to identify and pursue new donors, as well as maintaining effective communications with current donors to provide humans service to the Los Angeles community. Additionally, our Grants Department and Corporate Relations Department work with private foundations and corporations to activate volunteers for the Dream Center's life-transforming work. Our Marketing Department is continually building and improving the Dream Center brand to increase awareness of our resources by promoting greater visibility within the community at large.
