Blasian Babies

Every day, we are bombarded with opportunities to see blasian babies and family portraits of biracial people. But it wasn’t until my partner, a trained sociologist, pointed out this phenomenon that I was finally compelled to give a camera to a child I watch over with constantly. It was then that I knew why I was compelled to take these photos. It was because I wanted to contribute to the conversation that would inevitably follow these images on social media.

Family

It’s a strange place to be, coming from non-white privilege to partner with the Black community. From a place where my parents never told me to keep my receipts to prove that I didn’t shoplift (something a Malay friend recently said she thought all parents in Singapore taught their kids), to knowing that my husband is a threat to some people just because he is Black, the bottom line is I must speak out because I can, and where I didn’t need to before, now I do because my family toes the line.

As his mother adds garlic powder to the mopane worms frying on the stove behind him, Tumelo fidgets in his swivel chair. It's a big day. His girlfriend Ithra and her family are coming over for Saturday lunch. She's texted to say they are minutes away. It will be the first time his black family and her Asian-origin family have met. He's wearing a casual T-shirt and jeans, but for once he's looking agitated. (Source: www.bbc.com)

Kid

Korean baby. Literally the cutest thing ever. When I have a kid I am going to get them each a suit like this. hehe... they're gonna hate the pictures when they get older, TOO BAD! XD
