Yahne Coleman Stuns At Star-Studded "Spinning Gold" Premiere
Yahne Coleman made waves at the star-studded Spinning Gold world premiere. The movie tells the tale of Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart and his motley team who revolutionized music forever.
Directed by Anthony Hayes, the Australian thriller tests Zac Efron's range and physical endurance. But it also offers a somber glimpse into human suffering in an unforgiving world.
In an age of hip hop music, Clinton is widely regarded as "The Godfather of Funk." As founder and leader of Parliament and Funkadelic, his music has had a lasting influence on modern music. His psychedelic rock and soul-infused P-Funk revolutionized the 1970s, and its legacy remains vital today.
George Clinton was born July 22, 1941 in an outhouse near Kannapolis, North Carolina. As a child he began playing music and eventually formed his first band - Parliaments - with friends in Plainfield, New Jersey in 1952.
His early bands were an exciting fusion of funk, psychedelic rock and R&B. They were daring and ambitious - creating music unlike anything else before. His concepts were big - filled with tales of interstellar exploration as well as lectures on the significance and power of funk music.
After founding Parliament and Funkadelic in 1972, Clinton relocated to Toronto. There he honed his live performance skills while recording several classic albums that would influence funk-inspired rap groups such as Digital Underground, Dr. Dre, and Warren G.
While P-Funk had largely disbanded for several years, Clinton did release several solo projects such as Computer Games (1982) and Hey Man... Smell My Finger (1996). Additionally, he continued touring relentlessly, taking Parliament and Funkadelic on stages around the globe.
Clinton has dedicated his life to the cause of civil rights. Together with civil rights attorney Ben Crump, Clinton is leading a campaign to regain ownership of his recordings and rerelease them. This initiative seeks to address decades of exploitation against legacy Black artists regarding their right to perform and distribute their works.
In the world of dance, everyone has their favorite performer. Whether it's talented dancer Darcel Wynne from reality show Solid Gold or musical powerhouse George Clinton, there are always a few people that stand out.
That allure was what drew me to the new film Spinning Gold, which chronicles the incredible journey of music superstar Neil Bogart and his creation of one of the world's most successful independent record labels. Starring Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde), Michelle Monaghan, Jay Pharoah, Dan Fogler, Lyndsy Fonseca and Peyton List in leading roles, this captivating biopic offers a captivating insight into one of music history's tumultuous chapters.
Bogart was a legendary super producer in the movie, creating timeless pop music classics with legendary names such as Kiss, The Isley Brothers, Donna Summer and Gladys Knight. Through his collaborations with many major stars in the genre like Kiss, The Isley Brothers, Donna Summer and Gladys Knight he earned himself an iconic place in pop music history.
His personal and professional life was often filled with losses, yet he ultimately found success through Casablanca Records. Launched in the 1970s, this label produced iconic artists such as Parliament, Donna Summer and Bill Withers.
In celebration of the film's release, a star-studded soundtrack is now available digital download. It includes music from actors and singers in the cast - Jason Derulo as Ron Isley; Pink Sweats as Bill Withers; Tayla Parx as Donna Summer; Ledisi as Gladys Knight; Chris Redd as Frankie Crocker; Jeremy Jordan as Neil Bogart; Sam Harris as Paul Stanley. Additionally, fans can enter an interactive sing-along contest for a chance at winning an exclusive trip to Atlantic Records studio!
