FutureStarrWho is the Monster in Wednesday Addams?
Wednesday Addams, the eldest daughter of the macabre and twisted Addams Family, stars in a new Netflix series about her first term at Nevermore Academy. When an evil monster terrorizes their town, Wednesday and her dog Thing must track down its master.
Wednesday uncovers that the monster is actually a Hyde, and it isn't just her friend Tyler controlling it.
Wednesday fans adore the show, but some characters on it seem less than ideal. One such character is Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), played by Percy Hynes White.
In the first season of Wednesday, Xavier emerges as a major character in the series. He is an intuitive artist living at Nevermore Academy with roommate Rowan (Calum Ross).
He enjoys drawing pictures of events from the past or future, with this talent allowing him to create animated drawings similar to how Wednesday can control bees or frogs with her psychic powers.
However, Xavier can be somewhat reclusive and prefers to draw in his room. Additionally, Wednesday has little interest in him and doesn't really get along with him at all.
He attempts to explain his abilities to her, even having her write him letters; however, she quickly dismisses him. Later on in Xavier's studio, Wednesday sees a painting of herself playing the cello which he then animates for her.
She then asks him to help her solve the mystery of the Hyde, but he declines. Luckily, he ends up saving her life when she rescues him from being burned in a coffin.
His parents are celebrities, so he is well-connected to many and his dad Vincent owns a substantial amount of money. Despite this, Vincent has had an ill-defined past and tends to stay very withdrawn.
He still possesses a great artistic talent and is an excellent fencer. Additionally, he's part of the Amonti Llado team that competes in the Poe Cup race.
He's also a member of the Nevermore Hummers, an amateur beekeeping club. His hive has been nicknamed The Hive Code - meaning that "snitches get stung" and "Hummers stick together."
He has an ESTJ personality type with an ISFP flair. He is an empathic and sensitive individual who is very logical. Usually, his ability to see things from various perspectives helps him make better decisions.
Wednesday began her time at Nevermore Academy as a teenage psychic eager to hone her abilities. But soon enough she found herself donning the detective hat when Jericho suffered horrific attacks. Through investigation and uncovering decades-long secrets at Nevermore, Wednesday helped put an end to the murders - finally putting them behind her.
But that wasn't the only mystery Wednesday had to solve in season one of Wednesday. She also discovered that she can't always trust those close to her in life.
After her initial kiss with a man, Wednesday had an awful vision that revealed him to be an evil monster. Not only that - Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) had been controlling him and was seeking revenge against everyone at Nevermore for what she believed was their role in Gomez's death 25 years earlier.
Hunter Doohan stars as Tyler Galpin, the son of Jericho's sheriff and an unlikely partner for Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega). But when Wednesday begins to suspect him of being a monster, Tyler does not immediately reveal the truth to her.
Instead of showing her a movie he thinks she'll find scary, Tyler simply watches as she watches it. At first glance this may seem sweet at the time; however, when we consider all that we know about Tyler it becomes increasingly unnerving.
He's even shown her a movie about a Hyde, which may have sparked his attacks. Unfortunately, that's not the only thing he does to make Wednesday suspicious of him and it doesn't end well.
In the concluding moments of the season, Wednesday finally pieces together who the Hyde is and discovers her own connection to them - a secret which could save the world from yet another horrific massacre.
Percy Hynes White is an accomplished actor, model, and social media celebrity renowned for his work in the film industry. He's featured on numerous popular movies and TV shows across Canada. A native of St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada, Percy hails from St. John's as a talented actor, model & celebrity.
Percy, 21 years old, is an accomplished actor whose credits include various projects. His acting debut came with the 2008 movie Down to the Dirt, followed by several successful films and TV series that followed.
He has starred in films such as A Christmas Story, Rupture, Milton's Secret, Our House, Odd Squad, Saving Hope, Between, Age of Summer, Transplant and Nurses. Additionally, in 2022 he played Xavier Thorpe on Netflix's Wednesday series.
The character of Xavier has caused some online debate. While many fans agree that he is cute and friendly, some others are critical of his behavior. They claim he has a sexist, racist, and sexism-driven mindset.
However, it remains uncertain if Wednesday actor Percy Hynes White is aware of these accusations or has taken any action to address them. His lack of response on Twitter or Instagram (@milkievich) led to a thread featuring multiple tweets and comments from women who accused White of sexual assault while living in Toronto between 17-20 years old.
Some women have shared screenshots of Direct Messages they received from White, who was said to be targeting intoxicated girls. They claim he used derogatory language toward them and pressured them into accepting his advances.
These allegations are deeply disturbing and must be addressed, particularly with a series as popular as Wednesday. While it's too soon to tell if he will be removed from the show, this is an urgent matter that must be addressed.
No one knows for certain, but it appears likely that White will either be written out of the show, recast, or replaced altogether. While many Wednesday's fans may find this disappointing, Netflix likely does their best to ensure the second season of the show moves forward without any major issues.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is transferred to Nevermore Academy after her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams are killed in a car accident, she finds herself at the center of an intriguing murder mystery. As she uncovers that there is a monster terrorizing the school, taking out each student one by one, Wednesday decides to use her psychic abilities which have been passed down through generations in her family as she attempts to uncover whodunit.
But Wednesday has her doubts about someone in her circle - someone she doesn't believe to be the monster. She believes it to be classmate Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), who has an unusual talent for bringing his drawings to life. But after meeting Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), Wednesday realizes it's actually a "Hyde" -- someone who transforms into a monster through hypnosis or drugs.
Once Wednesday and her friends identify who the monster is, they track it down to an overly cheerful botany teacher named Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci). She's a descendant of Jericho's forefather Joseph Crackstone and set out to rid the world of any outcasts she could find. However, Wednesday is able to defeat her and put her away for good.
Wednesday can look back with joy as she and her friends finally face down the monster that has been taking away all her peers. In classic Addams fashion, Wednesday channels Goody Addams to battle off Hyde and save everyone at Nevermore from harm's way.
Wednesday's journey through Season 1 was full of unexpected twists and turns. She was attacked by a monster, her friend Eugene fell into a coma, and she still worries that her mother's premonition may destroy the school. Luckily, Wednesday is able to solve the monster's identity using visions and some classic detective work.
The show also welcomed Fred Armisen as Wednesday's beloved uncle in 1991. According to Armisen, he wanted to continue the character's tradition without reinventing him; rather, he simply wanted "to carry on the spirit of the character" with an aim of making him as funny as possible.
