Who is jack dutton in 1923

Though viewers have only seen one episode so far of 1923, the Paramount Network drama has already introduced viewers to many new characters. And it won't be long before the Dutton family tree grows even larger.

Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) is the beloved nephew to Jacob Dutton, a dedicated rancher who has deep ties to his family and Yellowstone Ranch. If Jack marries Elizabeth Strafford (Michelle Randolph), there's every chance they will have a son named John that carries on the family name of Duttons.

James Dutton (Tim McGraw)

Tim McGraw is a renowned country music star who also makes his mark onstage. His credits include Flicka (2006), The Blind Side (2009), The Kingdom (2007), Four Christmases (2008) and The Shack (2017).

McGraw will portray James Dutton in the prequel series 1883. Airing on Paramount+, the show follows the Dutton family as they embark on their journey from Texas to Montana and establish Yellowstone Ranch.

He will star alongside Faith Hill, who portrays the matriarch of the Dutton family. The show follows their journey as they attempt to build a homestead in Montana while overcoming gunfights, smallpox and other challenges along the way.

The Dutton family tree is intricate. As the series progresses, we learn there are seven generations between James Dutton and John Dutton III - but how did they get there?

Elsa Dutton (Isabel May)

Isabel May is best known for her roles in Alexa & Katie and Young Sheldon, but she also made a name for herself with Elsa Dutton on Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone prequel 1883. In this role, she portrays the daughter of James Dutton (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton whose family moved to Montana in search of a better life.

The prequel has been a huge hit with fans, making it all the more thrilling when Sheridan announced plans to continue with another set of episodes in 2022. According to Insider, 1923 will air in 2022.

Though this series differs from its predecessor, it still follows a similar path of peril. Fortunately, the Dutton family will have plenty of new adventures in this next chapter.

Many fans are still curious to find out who Isabel May is.

May is an American actress currently 21 years old and born on November 21, 2000 in Santa Monica, California.

She maintains an Instagram account with over 608k followers, but keeps her personal life private on the platform.

She's an avid horsewoman and attended "Cowboy Camp" before shooting began in order to master riding them. Though she hadn't heard any music by Tim McGraw or Faith Hill prior to working with them, the singers proved themselves equally charming scene partners.

John Dutton Sr. (James Badge Dale)

After years apart, John Dutton (James Badge Dale) returns to help his family's empire in 1923. He's married to Emma (Marley Shelton) and has an adult son named Jack; additionally, there's Uncle Jacob who serves as Jack's great-uncle.

John was only a young boy when we first encountered him in 1883, living with his mother Elsa and brother Spencer. But now the Yellowstone era has come to an end, leaving his legacy forever altered.

As a result, an entirely new generation of Duttons are emerging from the mountains. And with only one episode under our belts, fans have plenty to discover about these young adults and their relationships with the Dutton clan.

Jack Dutton, played by Darren Mann, becomes part of Yellowstone's second generation when he gets engaged to Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph). However, when Jack informs her that their wedding must be postponed due to cattle shortages, she does not take it well.

Darren revealed more of his character's loyalty to the Dutton family and why he would do anything to safeguard it. He stated that Jack's devotion was what ultimately caused him to pass away on-screen, making him such a pivotal part of the series' future moving forward.

Spencer Dutton (Dale Sklenar)

In 1923, the Duttons are facing a difficult period. With war, pandemics and drought raging around them, they are struggling to stay afloat. In Episode 5, however, they will finally learn of John Dutton Sr's (James Badge Dale) passing away, while Spencer Dutton (Dale Sklenar) begins making his way back home.

Spencer Dutton, son of James and Margaret Dutton, is a World War I veteran who spent some time hunting in Africa before returning home in 1923 to help run their family ranch in Montana.

Spencer is willing to take risks for the safety of his family and ranch. He's an experienced hunter who knows how to take down big game.

He quickly becomes an indispensable member of the Dutton ranch team, even helping out with some of their most crucial work: gun repairs.

He must do this against a backdrop of still-raging war and an unforgiving enemy. Fortunately, he has his uncle Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) for assistance.

In 1923, he meets British woman Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer), who is searching for her family. Although she may have much to teach him, he doesn't let that stop him from doing what needs to be done.

Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren)

The prequel series 1923 follows the Dutton family two decades after Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's "Yellowstone." Ford stars as Jacob Dutton, James' brother who's married to Cara (Helen Mirren).

Though she and her husband don't have biological children, she's as tough as they come. She knows when to stomp her foot or take a gunshot to the head, but she also understands that if they want to keep their ranch, they need to protect it from life's harsh realities.

Mirren says she strives to achieve balance when playing her role, from cutting a stern maternal figure with Jack to showing compassion for Elizabeth and connecting to Spencer - every nuance in her character is nuanced.

Faith has given her strength, which in turn allows her to bring the Dutton family to life on screen.

Elizabeth Dutton (Michelle Randolph)

In 1923, Elizabeth Strafford (Michelle Randolph) joins the Dutton family. She grew up on a ranch outside Yellowstone and fell in love with Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) while visiting her home on the East Coast.

When he returns to Montana, they form an immediate bond over their mutual appreciation of music and quickly fall in love.

Elizabeth and Jack quickly have their first sexual experience during a trip to Bozeman, Montana where they spend the night at a hotel.

Later in the episode, however, they're caught up in an intense ambush on their way back home to the ranch. Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) is responsible for this attack on the Duttons and their neighbors; it claims Elizabeth's father's life while wounding her mother as well.

At that point, she decides to remain in Montana and begin building a family with Jack despite any threats or obstacles from her mother or anyone else. She is determined not to let anything stand in the way of this endeavor.

She looks to Cara Dutton for guidance as she embarks on this new chapter of her life. She admires Cara's strength and believes she too can reach that level one day.

John Dutton III (Gretchen Mol)

The Paramount Network's Yellowstone has become a beloved fan favorite, following the Dutton family as they strive to protect their Montana ranch. With so many Duttons featured in the show, it can be difficult to keep up with everyone.

In the first prequel series, we followed the Duttons as they settled in Yellowstone Ranch and built their legacy. Kevin Costner played John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who managed to construct one of America's largest ranches despite constant attacks from developers, land developers, and even an Indian reservation.

Unfortunately, we still lack much insight into the early years of the Dutton family. While we do get to witness their Christmas morning reunion with Beth (Kelly Reilly), we never get a full view of her treatment as a young child.

Ultimately, Beth grows up and falls in love with a man employed by the Duttons. Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is an old ranch hand with an emotional past; nonetheless, he and Beth have found joy together.

Mol's Evelyn character on Yellowstone draws heavily from her Boardwalk Empire character Gillian Darmody. As the volatile matriarch who can be just as unstable as her husband John, Mol expressed that she was delighted to bring Evelyn's perspective to the series. In an interview with TV Insider, Mol expressed how much she enjoys bringing Evelyn's perspective to viewers.
