where is meek mills

Meek Mill is an acclaimed rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who began performing at a young age.

He is a renowned rapper who has been imprisoned multiple times. His case marked an important turning point in U.S. criminal justice reform efforts, and he currently serves as co-chairman of REFORM Alliance - a non-profit organization dedicated to probation, parole and sentencing reforms.

Meek Mill is a rapper

The Philadelphia-born rapper's career is a testament to the power of music. He's made millions, released hit songs, signed high-profile brand endorsement deals and spoken out against criminal justice reform - but in the end he still must live with the invisible chains that still bind him.

Over the past ten or so years, Meek's legal battles have cost him an estimated $30 million in defense costs. He's appeared in courtrooms, jails and prisons on various charges as well as for petty parole violations that he has vigorously denied.

Through it all, Mill's supporters - including neighborhood friends and fans - packed his courtrooms in protest. They were often left speechless as he battled for his freedom but always stood strong in their support.

As the story of Meek's rise and fall played out, his celebrity helped ignite a conversation about America's flawed probation and parole system. One in 55 adults (more than 4.5 million people) are on probation or parole in this country - twice as many as are incarcerated.

His story also made him a cultural icon, thanks to the attention given to criminal justice reform after his release. He joined forces with Philadelphia 76ers partner Michael Rubin and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z to found the REFORM Alliance, an initiative dedicated to changing probation and parole laws and policies so formerly incarcerated individuals can become productive members of society once again.

He began dating Nicki Minaj in early 2015 and accompanied her on her world tour. They broke up in January 2017, but reunited a year later after she split with then-boyfriend Big Sean.

In October 2016, Meek dropped his fourth mixtape, Dreamchasers 4. Additionally, he released two other albums: Championships (2018) and Expensive Pain (2021).

Since 2011, he's been a top seller on Billboard charts. His latest album, Championships, debuted at number one on the chart.

Meek has released several mixtapes and collaborated with renowned artists such as Rick Ross, Yo Gotti and Beanie Sigel. In 2012 he founded his own record label called Dream Chasers Records.

He was born in Philadelphia

Meek Mill, born May 6, 1987 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is one of the world's most renowned rappers and his music has made him a household name among many people.

Meek began rapping when he was twelve years old. Raised in North Philadelphia, where both his parents died when he was young, Meek was inspired to pursue music by watching his uncle Grandmaster Nell - Philadelphia hip-hop pioneer and legendary musician.

He listened to his uncle's songs and joined local rap battles, reinforcing his interest in rapping when he met three other rappers who formed the group BloodHoundz. Together they toured and recorded some mixtapes.

After they released their debut album, Meek Mill and T.I. were offered a record deal by Charlie Mack and T.I. after being impressed with Meek's lyrical skillset; they signed him to their management company.

In 2012, Meek released his debut album Dreams and Nightmares which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, he established Dream Chasers Records to release music through.

Since then, he has collaborated with some of the top rappers in the industry. His music has reached millions of people and he is widely considered one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Meek has also contributed to the cause of criminal justice reform by founding the REFORM Alliance with Michael Rubin and Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter in 2018. Together, they were successful in passing 16 bills across 10 states that year.

Meek has been an outspoken supporter of this reform, which seeks to reduce recidivism rates and alter sentencing laws. In December, President Trump signed a bipartisan law that was praised by Meek and other coalition members as an historic step in decreasing incarceration rates.

Since Meek spent time in prison more than a decade ago, he hasn't let go of his ambition to be a rapper. He still makes music, hangs out with celebrity friends and enjoys life as an accomplished hip-hop artist.

He started rapping at a young age

Meek Mill began his rap career at an early age, helping him overcome difficult circumstances to become a successful hip hop artist. He is one of the most acclaimed rappers of his era and his music has been praised by millions around the world.

As a child, Mills would spend his free time rapping and engaging in battles with other kids. Additionally, he often stayed up late at night writing down his ideas in notebooks.

He and some friends eventually formed the hip hop group The Bloodhoundz. This collective would create multiple mix tapes and distribute them to their fans.

Mills was able to craft his debut album during this period. Entitled Dreams and Nightmares, it was released in 2012 to critical acclaim from both media outlets and fans alike - even receiving Gold certification by the RIAA!

After the success of his debut album, Mills continued to release more music. In 2013, he released two additional mixtapes.

He quickly rose to fame and earned a substantial income from his music career. Additionally, he founded Dream Chasers Records - his own record label.

Mills had some legal trouble in the past, but was ultimately successful in releasing his debut album Dreams and Nightmares. This album went to number one on Billboard 200 charts worldwide.

He also released the mixtape series Dreamchasers, which became a major success and earned him many fans. Furthermore, he signed with Roc Nation record label.

Mills has had the opportunity to collaborate with many influential artists throughout his rapping career, such as Rick Ross, Yo Gotti and Beanie Sigel.

His most successful collaboration is with Drake. This partnership proved to be a huge success and cemented Meek Mill's place in pop music history; his album 'Dreams and Nightmares' reached number one on Billboard 200 in 2012.

The rapper is also a member of the REFORM Alliance, an initiative to improve criminal justice systems. Furthermore, he publicly supported President Trump.

He was incarcerated

Meek Mill's meteoric rise from the streets of Philadelphia to becoming one of the world's most beloved rappers was marked by multiple run-ins with law enforcement. He ultimately ended up in prison for violating probation multiple times.

Meek Mill's legal troubles have ignited an international movement to free him, and now he uses his public platform to advocate for criminal justice reform. In 2018, he co-founded REFORM Alliance with Jay-Z to reduce the number of people in jail who are wrongfully incarcerated for nonviolent offenses.

Many people view Meek's case as an isolated incident, but it's part of a larger narrative that exposes the injustice and racial bias within America's criminal justice system, according to prosecutors. Furthermore, this movement serves as a springboard for nationwide conversations about criminal justice reform led by organizations like Color of Change and #FreeMeekMill.

Meek was found guilty at trial of drug possession and attempted assault with a firearm, and sentenced to 11 to 23 months in jail and 10 years probation.

After being released on bail, Meek began advocating for criminal justice reform and joined forces with civil rights and racial justice activists. He received support from numerous celebrities like Jay-Z and T.I. Additionally, Meek is the president of his own record label, Dream Chasers.

Meek eventually lost his travel permit, and Brinkley found him guilty of violating his probation by failing to report a trip to New York in 2012. She also cancelled Meek's parole and ordered him to take etiquette classes as punishment.

He was ultimately placed on probation for five violations. In each case, the judge cited various reasons for rescinding his probation: a failed drug test, failure to pay child support, violation of court-ordered travel restrictions and an arrest in St. Louis for allegedly "popping a wheelie" with an ATV (the incident which led to him initially being charged with reckless driving involving an ATV - a felony).

In 2017, a Pennsylvania appeals court overturned Meek's conviction and excluded Brinkley from his case. In April, prosecutors agreed with his legal team's request for a new trial after an officer who testified against him during the original trial was found discredited. At that time, Meek's lawyers claimed the officer had been involved in an illegal scheme to collect money from a drug dealer - this claim now forms the basis of their retrial.
