Twice Performing 'MOONLIGHT SUNRISE' At The Billboard Women In Music Awards 2023
On Wednesday night at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, K-pop group TWICE gave an electrifying performance from YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
At a glittering event on Monday night, Emmy-winner Quinta Brunson hosted an awards show honoring female artists, executives and producers in the industry. SZA was awarded with the Woman of the Year award; other honorees included Lana Del Rey, Kim Petras, TWICE, Becky G, Latto and Doechii across multiple categories.
At the 2023 Billboard Women In Music Awards, Lana Del Rey was honored with the Visionary Award and delivered an emotional acceptance speech. In it, she thanked Olivia Rodrigo for her support and appreciation of her work before declaring herself "incredibly contented" with her career.
The Ocean Blvd singer donned a yellow paisley pattern lace dress from Zimmermann for the red carpet, accessorized with gold belt and bracelets. She finished off the look with gold open-toe heels and an elegant updo.
TWICE also attended the awards ceremony and performed their pre-release English single Moonlight Sunrise. As they flashed on giant screens between stunning sunrise shots, fans were enraptured by this K-pop group's performance.
Onstage, she was joined by Doechii who received the Rising Star Award presented by Honda, and Bad Bunny who received an Icon Award.
At the show, other winners included SZA (who was honored as Woman of the Year), Kim Petras, Becky G, Latto, TWICE and Ivy Queen. SZA's parents were in attendance to witness her receiving this honor. Other presenters at the event included Sabrina Carpenter, Chloe Bailey and Dove Cameron.
Twice has returned with their second Western-oriented single since 2021's "The Feels." From their March 2023 album READY TO BE, this track combines Miami dance-pop and synth.
Though not particularly inventive, the song is quite good. The vocal harmonies are superb, the beats are hard hitting and the group's voices sound sweet and comforting.
This pre-release song is an ideal way for Twice to introduce their fans to their upcoming album and set a positive tone for what's to come. The lyrics speak of "moonlight and sunrise", symbolizing both the end of one day and start of another in their relationship as well as something they all share: journeys.
In the music video, Twice members are seen performing a song that symbolizes both completion and individuality. Dahyun holds up seven fingers - an expression she often makes to emphasize her trademark grin - while Chaeyoung holds up two pairs of index and thumb.
The performance was excellent and had the crowd going wild. However, at times it got a bit over-the-top, especially during the chorus when Smith and Petras donned hats with devil horns. In response to this, dozens of viewers in the United Kingdom filed complaints with the Office of Communications which oversees TV, radio and phone services regulation.
Florida-based rapper Ariel Pink has been making music since she was a teenager, and her success has earned her plenty of attention. Her TikTok video "Persuasive + Crazy" is one of her most viewed videos on social media platforms like Snapchat and she even opened for SZA during her 'Good Days' tour.
She was also presented with the "Rising Star" award, an honour that is especially meaningful to musicians. Upon hearing her name being announced in lights, she was overjoyed and already looking forward to what comes next.
At the YouTube Theater for the Billboard Women In Music Awards 2023, there was no shortage of amazing performances to enjoy. Lana Del Rey, Kim Petras and Rosalia were just three of many celebs in attendance who all delivered their share of jaw-dropping moments.
TWICE were an incredible sight to behold, and their performance of 'MOONLIGHT SUNRISE' was the highlight of the night. Their pre-released English single was performed on a huge screen with images of members flashing in between gorgeous sunrises as they performed impressive choreography on stage. The video will make you want to listen again and again, sure to please TWICE fans everywhere!
Billboard's annual awards show recognizes music's rising stars, artists, producers and execs for their contributions to the industry. Hosted by Quinta Brunson on March 1 at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, this year's ceremony featured electrifying performances as well as motivational speeches from powerful women.
One of the biggest winners on the night was Latto, who accepted her Powerhouse Award for her support of female MCs. She graced the stage wearing a glittering body suit and matching opera-length gloves before finishing off her look with dramatic heels.
At her performance, four backup dancers joined her to deliver her infectious rap flow and disco-inspired vibe. Additionally, she performed her new single "Lottery" featuring Lu Kala.
The rapper donned a shimmery teal bodysuit, matching opera-length gloves, and cobalt blue strappy sandals to complete her ensemble. It was an ode to her favorite color and an ideal way to pay homage to her Powerhouse status.
TWICE made a triumphant entrance to accept their Breakthrough Award for their performance of 'Moonlight Sunrise.' The K-pop group looked stunning as they performed on an overhead screen surrounded by fans in stunning ensembles. Each member donned matching ensembles as they continued to captivate both themselves and the crowd alike.
On March 2, 1997 in Inglewood, California, Rebbeca Marie Gomez was born to Mexican parents. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her two brothers Frankie and Alex as well as her younger sister Stephanie.
She began her music career with some YouTube covers and then released an EP called Play It Again in 2013. Shortly thereafter, her first single "Shower" hit the US mainstream, reaching the top 20 on Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning her a host of awards.
Since then, she has collaborated with artists like J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Natti Natasha. Additionally, she released her own songs such as "Mayores" and "Sin Pijama."
Her Spanish accent has evolved into a unique combination of dialects, from reggaeton rap in her track with Natti Natasha to regional Mexican-trap tunes from Banda MS. She can easily switch between native Spanish and English while singing along to the rhythms of her favorite songs.
Her music has been praised for its unique blend of genres, something she is immensely proud of. Furthermore, she has made a difference through her platform to raise money for charity and speak out on important issues. For this work, she received several awards, including the Agent of Change award at Premios Juventud 2020 for inspiring positive change around the world through music.
