The Most Shocking Moments From the Real Housewives of Atlanta Cast Season 1Phaedra Parks' defamatory remarks against Kandi Burruss stand out among many other instances from The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast as one of many controversial moments on show. Kenya Moore sent shockwaves through the show when she unexpectedly threw a megaphone at Porsha Williams during the reunion, to many viewers' surprise and anger. 1. NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak Real Housewives of Atlanta cast has long been known for drama and controversy, with one of the most memorable moments from Season 1 being when NeNe Leakes allegedly choked Kim Zolciak on set. Unfortunately for NeNe, she's had no shortage of trouble on set since that incident; and has been accused of choking multiple times throughout Seasons 1-3 and 4. People reports that Leakes and Zolciak became involved in an altercation while filming an episode for RHOA in 2008 - at that time having been friends prior to working together on the series. During their encounter, she attempted to choke her and shouted at her to close off her legs to married men. Even though these allegations against Leakes have come up before, this time around's allegations were particularly shocking and upsetting for fans of her show. Ever since this happened she and her co-star haven't been seen filming together again and has even removed herself from filming altogether since this incident took place. She was fired from the show in 2020, and is now suing Bravo and Andy Cohen for racism as one of the primary reasons she was forced off before Season 13 started. Leakes filed her lawsuit on April 20 and named NBCUniversal, Bravo, True Entertainment and Truly Original as defendants in her suit. Additionally, Leakes has written an expose book called My Dirty Little Secret that details her time spent on RHOA. The book detailing her experiences on the show will be out in May. In it, she claims that she was subjected to racist harassment during filming - something which played a large part in why she decided to leave before its 13th season concluded. She alleges she was treated differently from the rest of her cast members, particularly as the only white actress on the show. She states her complaints of racism were ignored by management before ultimately being forced off before its 13th season premiered. 2. Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss initially became close during Season One of Real Housewives of Atlanta. They often shared jokes and would share wigs together; however, their relationship eventually soured and Kandi revealed in an interview with Andy Cohen that she is no longer close with Kim. Kim and Kandi Burruss have had a difficult relationship for years and recently Kim filed a lawsuit against Kandi for infringing upon her copyrights. Kim claimed in her lawsuit against Burruss and her co-writer that they engaged in "an ongoing pattern of copyright infringement, likely to continue." According to Radar Online, they filed suit in March against them over this alleged plagiarism. Kim had already accused Burruss and Don Vito of misappropriating her 2009 song "Tardy for the Party," without her permission or payment, in a separate lawsuit filed by them against Burruss and Don Vito who claimed they did not have permission from Kim to use it themselves. After hearing of the lawsuit, Burruss posted on her social media account to acknowledge having experienced a difficult day and promised she would make changes in order to improve herself and prevent future incidents from arising; further adding she wanted no part of repeating such drama again on reality television shows like RHONY or SURVIVOR. Burruss had pledged that she was going to change, yet decided instead to watch back the episode in question and assess for herself how things played out. On an upcoming episode, Burruss will engage in a fiery confrontation with fellow Housewife Marlo Hampton and attempt to drag her down onto the ground so as to slap her. Zolciak will likely experience an amazing reunion with her RHOA co-stars; all three will appear together in a season 15 preview which has been released. RHOA veterans, Zolciak and Whitfield, will reunite for an all-new episode this season, delighting fans everywhere with an all-star reunion episode that showcases a song they co-wrote as well as offering up some hilarious banter to welcome in a whole new set of reality stars. 3. Kim Zolciak and Porsha Williams Real Housewives of Atlanta has always had its share of shocking moments. From Nene Leakes' notorious wig pulling incident to Adrienne Maloof refusing to participate in a reunion, here are some unforgettable scenes from season one that fans won't soon forget! 1. Kim Zolciak and Porsha Williams may not have been best friends, but they shared some mutual respect between themselves despite occasionally engaging in public spats that typically accompanied Housewives relationships. Drama did emerge between Porsha and Kim during Season 10, as Porsha and Kim engaged in several heated exchanges that Us Weekly reports. Porsha told the publication that she "never pulled a wig," adding: "I would have done nothing wrong." 2. Kandi Burruss Kandi joined RHOA during season two in 2009 and remains one of its longest-standing cast members today, holding onto her place to this very day. 3. Kenya Moore Moore joined the Housewives cast during Season 6, but quickly earned herself no fans among her fellow Housewives due to her aggressive and sometimes excessive behavior. 4. Cynthia Bailey Cynthia has been an original cast member and mainstay since its premiere in 2008. In fact, she has appeared in all 10 seasons of the series! 5. DeShawn McDaniel, former NFL quarterback and fiance of NeNe Leakes is another member of the cast who has caused controversy. They had an engagement that fell through but ultimately decided to separate. 6. Shamari DeVoe She made an appearance in Season 11, though her time on screen was brief due to accusations of excessive drinking. At one point during filming an episode, she even fell off of a chair! Drew Sidora departed "RHOA" following Season 13 but remains popular among fans due to her role on BET's "The Game." She made headlines for leaving so soon after entering. 4. Kim Zolciak and Kenya Moore The inaugural season of Real Housewives of Atlanta cast delivered many surprises. From NeNe Leakes' cancer diagnosis to Porsha Williams' departure, something big seemed on the horizon at every turn. Andy Cohen's iconic moment where Brandi Glanz slapped Lisa Vanderpump is still one of the most unforgettable scenes from RHOA history, yet there were several more fiery episodes that should hold special places in our hearts. Ramona Singer made headlines for walking out of a reunion during season 1 - leaving viewers bewildered and speechless - only to return shortly thereafter. Ramona's exit set the precedent for numerous momentary walkouts at reunions - although not necessarily one of the best reunion moments, it certainly made our list. Ramona Singer made headlines again during this season of Real Housewives of New York when she made a bold declaration at their reunion that she would "walk out if a bird comes into the room". It was definitely entertaining and worth watching! Kim Zolciak and Kenya Moore are two of the most unruly members of Atlanta Real Housewives cast, often exchanging heated words that make everyone turn away. Their ongoing feud will not fail to turn your head. Kenya and Marc Daly have long had an ongoing feud, with both parties frequently exchanging barbs about her marriage on RHOA episodes released for Leaks' White Party. On that episode, both were seen exchanging accusations against each other regarding Kenya's marriage. Kim quickly took offense when her friends began discussing their meeting with Kenya's husband as an avenue to criticize Kenya for sharing details of her wedding with her fans and suggested that Kenya may have married one of her fans instead of staying silent about the subject. These were particularly cruel remarks from Kim, but that wasn't all she had to say about their former co-star. On multiple occasions she has made clear her displeasure over what she saw as nothing positive being added to the show by this person. Kim also had a tenuous relationship with Kenya, as well as a history of substance abuse that saw her arrested for public intoxication and theft at Target. Following those incidents she was placed on probation as well as required to complete 450 hours of community service and attend AA meetings.
