The Evolution of B-More Club Music - TSU Flash & Queen Stylz Weigh InDrake and Beyonce aren't the first artists to embrace club music, but their recent releases have revived an entire genre that many urban Americans have been familiar with for decades. "Bmore club," an offshoot of Chicago house music from the late '80s, has made waves in Baltimore for over two decades - so much so that French filmmaker Tim Moreau's new documentary Baltimore Where You At? has seen its revival. TSU Flash & Queen Stylz’s Single B-More Club Music gets even shinier this week with the special guest appearance of Queen Stylz, one of Baltimore's premier dancers and former Red Bull Dance Your Style winner. Her performance at Rams Head Live provided us an incredible showcase for her talent while she shared some insight into Baltimore's dance culture with us. Internet Money's Baltimore-based indie label recently released TSU Flash & Queen Stylz's single "Reflect," an incredible collaboration between two dancers that focused on their experience working within the restaurant and hospitality industries. The track fuses elements of funk, R&B, and pop to keep listeners moving! This song's production features both electronic and live instruments that creates the feeling of an authentic dance floor party, recalling some of TSU Flash and Queen Stylz's greatest works from past works. TSU Flash have emerged as a stand-out indie-pop act with their energetic live shows and danceable sound, remaining relevant over the years. Their latest record adds even more impressive songs to their catalogue and they should definitely be celebrated for it! Emily and Charity are introspective this week as they review BIGBANG's first new song in four years, 'Still Life,' with its accompanying music video. Additionally, the Queens review Kihyun's long awaited solo debut from Monsta X ('Voyager' plus two additional songs: Comma and Rain). Listen in as Emily and Charity discuss these songs and more - from album picks, bias choices, choreography choices and even album releases to their music videos! Finally, Emily and Charity close out this podcast with an entertaining K-pop quiz! TSU Flash & Queen Stylz’s Album As its title indicates, this album focuses purely on music. It represents one of the band's finest efforts so far and boasts songs that are just as enjoyable to listen to and dance along to as they are to watch live. Bicycle Race, as an album opener, stands out for veering off course into murky waters with its weird chord sequence and time signature shifts as well as massed bicycle bell solo. Lyrically it features an abundance of nonsensical lyrics; yet one moment from it stands out from all others for being particularly memorable and notable. Queen's disco-inspired offerings are unsurpassed, making this album essential listening for any Queen fan's collection. Though not particularly long, its solid effort will keep you coming back for more. Of particular note on this album is "Play The Game," an instrumental that incorporates rock, pop and synthetic elements perfectly to form something grandiose; its title track being one such hit. Unfortunately it can't be played backwards!
