On PS4 and PS5, PSP games will soon benefit from ray tracing, providing a more lifelike visual experience with 8K support.

PlayStation Plus offers three tiers with hundreds of games, cloud streaming and monthly bonus games - but which one is right for you?

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, a beloved PSP game in the gaming community, recently received an update that adds an innovative feature. Now players can play the game with a second analogue stick - something not present in its initial release on PSP. This advancement is certainly welcomed by fans of the PSP title.

Syphon Filter, one of the most beloved third-person shooter stealth games ever, has achieved legendary status. It revolutionized the stealth genre and had a lasting effect on gamers worldwide.

Since its debut on PlayStation console, Syphon Filter has become a phenomenon in action-packed gaming. In Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Gabriel Logan returns to an increasingly dangerous world filled with terrorist threats. He must fight to save it while also proving his loyalty to CIA.

The gameplay of this title is familiar to previous titles in the franchise, as Gabriel must defend against pirates, CIA double agents and terrorists alike. He must use cover and melee techniques to defeat any baddies while searching for where the Syphon Filter virus originates - which could cause massive destruction and devastate Earth.

Furthermore, the twin-stick control system on the PS3 version has been vastly improved from what was once a slightly cluttered layout to something far more intuitive. A variety of moves, features, weapons and equipment have all been mapped to analogue nubs, face buttons and d-pad - once you get used to it you'll find that it works seamlessly.

Dark Mirror's quick transition between action and stealth, as well as its wide variety of enemies, make it a must-have title for fans of the genre. The levels are short but packed with surprises - some areas featuring never before seen features!

Though the storyline may not be as innovative as previous entries, it's still well told and keeps the game moving quickly. Furthermore, the characters are much improved from what was seen before with plenty of cooperative NPC characters to interact with.

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain has received an exciting new feature on PS4 and PS5, thanks to PlayStation Plus Premium. This innovation will allow users to play in multiplayer online mode for the first time ever in this popular game.

Though it's not unheard-of for a PSP game to be rated for PS4 or PS5, this marks the first time a Syphon Filter title has been certified for console with an additional analogue stick. This marks an important development, as players now have greater control over their characters in the game.

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain also gains several new features and gameplay improvements, such as character customization and four-player cooperative online play. These additions add even more variety to the already extensive arsenal of weapons and gadgets available in Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain.

The primary goal of the game is to save the world from a global terrorist consortium that uses a virus called Syphon Filter to infect people around the globe. It is up to Gabe Logan and his colleagues from the Agency to battle this looming threat in an array of intense missions across the globe.

Gameplay in Syphon Filter IV differs from previous titles in that you play as a new recruit for the agency, creating your character using an extensive character customization system.

Create your own agent and utilize various weapons and gadgets in the game to fight a terrifying global conspiracy. It is up to you to infiltrate a rogue group of terrorists, destroy their base, and save the world!

As the story progresses, you will gain access to more powerful weapons and gadgets that will enhance your ability to defeat terrorists. These weapons include rifles, carbines, grenades and knives.

Another exciting feature of this game is its map editing capability, enabling players to design custom levels and share them with others. Furthermore, they can modify objectives and spawn points within the game for even better gameplay experiences.

Syphon Filter 2

Some gamers had written off Syphon Filter as being all but dead and buried, but this month's relaunch of PlayStation Plus Premium has given it new life. Bend Studio's beloved third-person stealth action game is now included in the revamped PS Plus subscription service and comes with an exciting feature fans are sure to appreciate.

Syphon Filter 2, originally released for PlayStation console in 2000, follows Gabe Logan and Lian Xing as they endeavor to uncover a plot that could lead to the sale of an infectious virus. Faced with the potential threat of bio-weapon disaster, it's up to these two spies to strike quickly and efficiently.

In addition to its classic story, this game also provides a highly-desired gameplay feature: region switching. This allows European and American PlayStation Plus Premium members to play in either PAL 50Hz or (superior) 60Hz mode - one of the first titles offered on Sony's revamped service.

Another notable aspect of this latest release is its inclusion of trophies. This marks a landmark moment, as it's the first time any PlayStation classic has ever been made accessible to players with trophy support.

This game, originally released on the PSP, is now accessible to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers who own either PS4 or PS5. It boasts enhanced visuals, rewind, quick save, and custom video filter options.

The Syphon Filter series has gained a devoted fan base, inspiring many other stealth action games to follow suit. Established in the late 90s, its popularity still endures today.

Though some of the more recent titles in the franchise haven't been as well received by critics, critics generally consider the original four titles to be among the best of the series and they consistently receive positive Metacritic scores.

Now that the PlayStation Plus Premium relaunch has begun, it will only be a matter of time before these classic games receive the features they deserve. With an upcoming remaster, we may see more of these beloved franchises brought back to life in the future.

Syphon Filter 3

The Syphon Filter series of stealth action games has enjoyed a long and successful existence. The original, Syphon Filter, debuted for PSOne in 1999 followed by its sequel the following year on PS2. Since then, there have been multiple releases on PlayStation 2 and PSP as well.

The series began as an innovative take on classic espionage that put players in the shoes of CIA agent Gabriel Logan. Since its inception, it has gained a devoted fan base and continues to this day with multiple entries.

Syphon Filter 3 is now available on PS4 and PS5. This remaster of the original title boasts improved graphics, a new level editor, cross-play support between PlayStation 4 and PS5, up-rendering, rewind, quick saves and custom video filters.

In the game, Gabe Logan and his team are sent to Costa Rica to locate an Agency agent who has gone missing. During their investigation, they uncover a secret arms consortium controlling the Agency as well as an IRA cell assisting this arms group.

Gabe and Lian must ultimately appear before Congress to discuss their work for the agency. This is a contentious move, which Secretary of State Vince Hadden brings them in for questioning.

Unfortunately for the three, it appears that Hadden is involved in an intricate plot to use them as fall guys. He believes they are planning on spreading Syphon Filter, a deadly virus, around the globe, and wants them out of the picture.

When the three are arrested, they must rely on each other and their newest member of their team, Lawrence Mujari, to make it through trial. Furthermore, they must figure out how to eradicate the virus from its source.

Fans of Sony's Syphon Filter series can look forward to more of the same with its revamped PS Plus subscription. The company is now adding more titles each month, including backward-compatible PSP games. Furthermore, those on PlayStation Premium can download additional Trophies as well as the latest big-budget and indie titles for free.
