Sitting in a chair surrounded by multiple cameras at 360 degrees angles, Wayne was photographed to capture his likeness. The New Orleans emcee's addition is part of the Crossover Series, which pits celebrities from outside basketball against actual athletes in video game format. He boasts an 89 overall rating - higher than many of the actual players featured within it.

Weezy has been featured in multiple soundtracks of NBA 2K23, but this marks his first time as a playable character. He joins J. Cole and Jack Harlow on NBA 2K23's rap roster.

This award is one of many recent recognitions for "Lollipop" rapper, who has been a beloved fan favorite for nearly three decades. He is widely credited with leaving an indelible mark on rap music industry.

Wayne is currently busy with his role in NBA 2K23 as well as planning the Welcome to Tha Carter Tour that kicks off April 4 in Minneapolis and concludes May 13 in Los Angeles. Additionally, he's working on his sixth studio album 'Tha Carter 6' which will be released in 2020.

Like other Crossover Series rappers, Lil Wayne's appearance in NBA 2K23 represents a shift away from the company's traditional basketball simulation approach and toward one that embraces hip hop culture. This shift indicates the game team has changed its strategy to focus more on entertainment and lifestyle aspects of the sport while still maintaining its authenticity within the game itself.

Ronnie Singh, 2K's digital marketing director, stated that Weezy's inclusion on the NBA 2K23 roster was made due to his popularity. According to Singh, his overall rating will be 89 points - higher than most actual NBA players in the game.
