Lancey Foux - Rap, Model and Producer

Lancey Foux is a rap artist, model and producer who describes his life as "a movie". After emerging from east London's underground scene, he's collaborated with Skepta and Kanye West while performing at Milan runway shows.

Foux's latest album, LIFE IN HELL, is his most experimental yet. Featuring guest appearances from Kaytranada and 070 Shake, this psychedelic trap journey is as inventive as it is lyrically.

1. He’s a rap artist

Lancey Foux has been dubbed a rap artist similar to Suzanne Collins' fictional protagonist in her best-selling fantasy novel "The Hunger Games." His mysterious Londoner name carries with it plenty of rumors and cryptic legends, creating an ardent fan base that spans nearly three years now. Not only that, but his music continues to sell out shows both on tour and back home in New York City where he regularly sells out shows.

Lancey Foux began his rap career when he was 16 years old, freestyling over YouTube beats in his bedroom. Through a friend he eventually got invited into a studio and released his debut album Pink in 2015; two weeks after its release he scored the local breakthrough hit "About It."

Lancey Foux, 25, is an award-winning producer who began making music out of YouTube beats while still in his bedroom. On release day, Lancey invited fans to enter into his world of Life in Hell through a show at an abandoned synagogue on New York's Lower East Side. Papers bearing his lyrics littered the floor as demonic dancers patrolled its halls.

During our conversation, he was surprisingly candid about his career and artistic integrity. He cited The Art of War as an influence for his breakout record Friend or Foux and now he's drawn heavily from Stoicism for Life in Hell.

He's an incredibly talented rapper who continues to gain momentum in the music industry. With his unique creative vision, he has quickly become one of the most captivating artists currently active within it.

4. He’s a DJ

Lancey Foux is a DJ, someone who mixes recorded music for an audience. Their job requires selecting and mixing songs that will appeal to listeners; this requires knowledge of a DJ's track library as well as intuition to match songs to their tempos.

Lancey began creating music at age 16 by rapping over YouTube beats in his bedroom. This outlet for creativity enabled him to grow as an artist.

5. He’s a photographer

Lancey Foux is fresh from Milan and just completed his appearance at the 1017 ALYX 9SM Autumn/Winter 2022 show. Additionally, he's on tour, promoting his first solo album Life in Hell - an eclectic journey filled with far-out samples and unexpected lyrical turns.

When not rapping, Foux finds time to create art and shoot his own music videos. His latest endeavor, directed by Olivia Rose, pays homage to sci-fi iconography and retro obsessions with extraterrestrials in an avant-garde promo that's refreshingly unique and futuristic.

Lancey's music can be quite energetic, yet in conversation he often appears calm and reflective. Whether discussing Stoicism or Chinese military tactics he learned while growing up, Lancey radiates an inner calm that comes from living according to his own rules. It's as if he's the "king of his own reality," radiating harmony from within himself that mirrors this fact.

From east London, this 26-year-old has made waves in both the rap scene and fashion world, working with Kanye West and Skepta while performing on Telfar's runway as a model.
