King Charles is Unlikely to Strip Prince Harry of His Royal TitleAfter the release of Harry and Meghan's viral Netflix documentary series 'Harry & Meghan,' there were reports that Charles could strip them of their titles; however, one royal insider has indicated this is unlikely. Sources have noted that it would be too petty and vindictive of the King to do so. 1. It Was A Gift From The Queen Queen Elizabeth may seem unlikely to appreciate gag gifts, but reports indicate she is quite fond of them and even has an extensive collection of them. One special piece was given to Her Majesty from Burma: two rubies thought to protect against 96 diseases were given as part of a gift that later helped create the famous Burmese Ruby Tiara. Though Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries may have caused controversy among some, His Majesty will likely not strip them of their royal titles - these honorifics were bestowed by Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day and cannot be taken away. "Removing their titles would never be an option for King Abdullah II - mostly because it would appear too punitive and vindictive," according to an anonymous royal expert quoted by Page Six. This would only lend itself to giving the impression that he was trying to exact revenge against their children and daughter-in-law for making such an explosive documentary, according to this expert. Royal experts noted that even if Charles were to strip Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their titles, that wouldn't be the end of it all. According to royal protocol, any woman marrying into the royal family automatically receives the princess title and can use her new name alongside that of her spouse's; so even without ducal titles they would still benefit from having honorifics behind their names if Charles were to do this. In any event, if Charles decides to retain his titles it might not be in his best interests either. As we reported previously, the royal family is facing financial strain and have had to reconsider some traditional practices in order to reduce expenses; these include moving from their London residence to more cost-efficient property in Windsor as well as cutting staff numbers from their household. 2. It’s Too Petty Charles may not approve of his son and daughter-in-law, but stripping them of their titles could be a mistake. Not only would this move seem vindictive and even worsen the royal family's image further. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were granted Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles by Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day, yet critics are calling for them to relinquish those titles after viewing Harry & Meghan, an explosive documentary series that exposed their unhappy life behind palace walls. Piers Morgan was among those calling for the royal couple to be stripped of their titles, tweeting "King Charles needs to strip these two toxic rats of all remaining titles and connections to the Royal Family and do it quickly or they will destroy the monarchy". Title disputes have become an ongoing topic since Harry and Meghan announced they wouldn't attend William and Kate Middleton at Queen Elizabeth's coronation, yet according to a former butler for Charles it seems unlikely she will take steps against their titles. Paul Burrell, butler to both Diana and Harry, believes the monarch has no intention of revoking their titles as gifts from his mother, Princess Diana. Charles seems content for them to keep them as part of his inheritance from her, but may wait and see how the final three episodes of Harry & Meghan and Meghan's memoir Spare play out before making any definitive decisions. Notable here is that while allegations in the docuseries have been swirling around, none have yet been proven true, making it hard to accuse Charles or Camilla of anything; especially given that Charles values his reputation as a compassionate monarch who takes fair measures when it comes to ruling his realm fairly and equally. Stripping them of their titles would only seem like revenge against recent accusations made against the palace that tried to silence them. 3. It’s Too Punitive Piers Morgan has publicly advocated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be stripped of their royal titles following their explosive Netflix documentary series. But it appears as though King Willem-Alexander will take a more generous approach towards them both. Experts predict that Charles will likely never strip them of their royal titles, as such a move would only create further animosity towards him and the Royal Family from them. As many may know, Harry and Meghan were given titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth in exchange for their commitment to supporting monarchy and royal charities. Although they have since left working royal duties behind and moved to California, HRH allowed them to retain their titles so they can still serve as goodwill ambassadors for British monarchy. However, should they lose their titles, Harry and Meghan would no longer be permitted to attend official royal events or use the Prince or Princess of Wales moniker on social media - an outcome which experts who spoke with Page Six have suggested could damage their brand and ruin their relationship. Therefore it seems unlikely that King will strip Harry and Meghan of their titles. As such, the King will most likely wait until Harry's memoir, Spare, is published in January 2023 before making any definitive decisions regarding their titles. That book could contain numerous claims regarding how royals treated Harry and Meghan during their relationship. 4. It Could Backfire Charles may have the authority to strip his family members of titles, though that is unlikely. A royal insider told Page Six that stripping Charles' son and daughter-in-law of their titles would be "petty and vindictive", leading them to claim Charles is trying to silence them or prove they don't belong in the Royal Family at all. Charles is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and has been on the throne since her death in 2002. Since then he has established himself as an active philanthropist, supporting initiatives to enhance educational services, fund arts initiatives, and fund sustainable business endeavors - as well as hosting several charity events himself and forming his own charitable foundation. From his early days as an heir apparent, when he was accused of mismanaging funds and spending it recklessly, to now becoming an experienced public figure fully aware of what to expect from media, things have certainly changed for this former political candidate. Harry and Meghan have experienced their fair share of ups and downs during their relationship; nonetheless, they remain committed to creating an amicable and fulfilling partnership, having welcomed Louise - their first child together - into their family in April this year. We can only hope that with time Harry and Meghan can find their place within the Royal Family. Before the second episode of Netflix series premieres on Thursday, many have speculated whether Charles might take steps against Camilla and Prince Harry by stripping them of their titles. According to royal experts, however, such an option should be excluded as being possible. Former royal butler John Ryland believes there's no good reason for King William to revoke Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles given as wedding presents from Queen Elizabeth II, which would appear vindictive and make the royal family appear like they are playing games with one another, according to him. Additionally, any title changes would still consider Markle a princess according to royal protocol which permits women who marry into royal families use Princess after their name as well as use it alongside it when signing contracts with them.
