Kevin Love stats

Kevin Love has had an illustrious career in the NBA. He is a five-time All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He's been reported to be seeking a buyout, and ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Miami is one of the teams he's been meeting with. If he signs with Miami, it would be an important move for the Heat as they desperately need help in the frontcourt.

1. Rebounding

Kevin Love is one of the premier rebounders in the NBA. His ability to grab rebounds far outside his immediate area sets him apart from most players in the league.

Timing is an art that can only be perfected by those with exceptional timing. Elite rebounders possess the capacity to know when and where they should be, something Love has mastered since his days at Minnesota.

For a brief period during his Minnesota career, he was one of the premier low post threats in the game. His ability to drive to the basket and grab rebounds off teammates' missed shots was an underrated aspect of his game.

Love's development as a player for the Cleveland Cavaliers began when he joined their offense. This has become one of the many reasons why Love has become such an important part of their organization.

Love not only has exceptional rebounding abilities, but he also possesses remarkable shooting prowess. He's a sweet-shooting power forward who can hit the three-point shot with ease.

His shooting skills have been a major factor in the Cleveland Cavaliers' past success. His high shooting percentage and average of over 20 points per game demonstrate why he is such an asset to the team.

Despite his impressive shooting prowess, he is an ineffective defensive player. His limited lateral quickness and vertical leaping leave him vulnerable to getting beat by opposing perimeter players. Furthermore, due to his size, he may struggle to defend post-ups from larger opponents who may shoot over top of him for a clear look at goal.

2. Points

Kevin Love was a key cog in the Cleveland Cavaliers offense for many years, serving as floor spacer, screener and defensive rebounder with an elite passing touch. Not only was he instrumental in their first NBA title win, but he also helped them capture Olympic and FIBA World Cup gold medals.

He has always served as a leader for his teammates, especially during years when injuries often limited him. Although he still plays every game, his production this season hasn't been quite as impressive as last year when he finished second in voting for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.

Kevin Love is one of the NBA's premier power forwards and known for his accurate outlet passing. He anticipates where his teammates' routes will take them and times the throw so it lands crisply in their hands.

Love has shown his ability to hit long-range shots from beyond the arc, shooting an impressive 47.1% from there in 2019-2020 season - a career high for him in this regard.

One of Love's strongest assets is his post game, which he uses to create space on both ends of the floor. He hunts early seals with great timing and takes an aggressive physical approach when making post-ups. Plus, Love can finish strong with hooks over either shoulder, turnaround jumpers and fadeaway pull-ups from beyond the arc for extra points.

Though his scoring average has dropped this season, Love still managed to contribute some significant points for the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in 22.5 minutes of action on average. His offensive skills, along with his veteran leadership, have been integral components in their recent successes.

3. Assists

Kevin Love has always been an effective scorer, but he's also developed into an excellent secondary playmaker in Cleveland over the years. This has allowed him to become more of a complete player as he's aged.

Kevin Love possesses excellent court vision, especially when making difficult passes that require him to anticipate their route. Furthermore, his lower body strength allows him to leverage the floor and gain ground on defenders.

He can also be utilized as a pass-catching option from the high post with dribble handoffs, though these opportunities are rare. Love has an impressive ability to emerge from behind a ball screen and finish at the rim with ease.

Love is an incredibly accurate back-to-the-basket cutter. His accuracy comes largely from his strong base, which keeps him accurate against aggressive closeouts. Furthermore, Love can pull off a deadly pump fake and will not hesitate to cut backdoor if he thinks a defender is overplaying him.

His ability to shoot three-pointers is another strong point of his game. He's capable of shooting various types of threes, such as step-back or catch-and-shoot attempts.

His three-point shooting has remained consistent throughout his career, even as he's grown older. He's particularly proficient from the corner, shooting 47.1% from left and 47.1% from right in 2019-2020 season.

On his best days, Love can create space in the paint for himself and his teammates to move around. This helps open shots for him and sets up other opportunities; plus he's known to make crucial shots when needed. His knack for hitting his shots under pressure also speaks volumes.

4. Three-point shooting

Love has been honing his shooting ability from three-point range throughout his career. This skill has become increasingly crucial in the NBA as players like Stephen Curry and James Harden have made three-point shooting an integral part of their games.

To maximize his shooting ability, Love has refined his shot by performing the Cone Hop Shooting Drill. This helps him knock down 3-pointers with ease when the pressure is on. Furthermore, he's changed up the motion of his shot from traditional to more rapid.

Love's switch to a quicker shooting motion allows him to take more quick-trigger shots as the trailer, making him much more dangerous in games with tight defenses. Furthermore, his increased speed allows him to draw defenders closer in on him for pull-up jumpers or outlet passes with greater ease.

Love's ability to play off of each other in the triangle offense, a system that relies on power forwards playing off each other in various roles, has been particularly impressive this season for the Cavs as they sit 2-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. This talent has been key for Love this year.

Love has been an impressive shooter from three-point range for the past two seasons. While he may not be quite as good as Bird and Dirk Nowitzki, who were both among the top three-point shooters in NBA history, Love has shown that he can be just as effective. Hopefully his recent uptick in productivity will continue through this season and into next year.

5. Fouls

Last season, Love committed the 11th-fewest fouls out of all players who played at least 30 minutes per game. His 1.8 fouls per game were also the lowest of any power forward in the league.

Love is not often fouled, but he does his best to avoid them whenever possible. As a fan favorite for his defensive work, Love has earned multiple NBA All-Defensive teams recognition.

His time with the Cavaliers has showcased his impressive ability to take control of games by using his body to keep opponents off-balance. One of his signature moves is "pump fake", where he leans in with one shoulder and creates space for a jump shot.

It's an impressive look for him, and one that helps him maintain his presence in the paint. Plus, it could potentially lead to some big buckets!

He's an impressive finisher on the block, which can have a significant impact on how his opponents play him. That's why he ranked fifth in blocks last year - behind only DeMarcus Cousins, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant.

Injury can have serious repercussions for the team, leaving them to rely on others to do much of their offensive work - which would not be ideal.

Thankfully, Love has not missed too many games this year. He was inactive for three of the team's last 10 contests and received a Did Not Play Coach's Decision in each of the past seven.

Love is an integral part of Cleveland's offense, and his absence can have a major effect on their ability to win games. Therefore, it's wise for the team to take precautions in order to minimize injuries so Love can remain in the lineup as much as possible.
