Kelsea Ballerini Rolling Up the Welcome Mat

Kelsea Ballerini has a special Valentine's Day present for her fans: on Tuesday, February 14, the GRAMMY-nominated artist released six songs and an accompanying short film entitled Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.

Ballerini's 2022 album Subject to Change is the culmination of her personal growth over the past few years, and on these tracks she shares how her marriage and divorce from Morgan Evans have shaped her life.

Love Me Like You Mean It

Kelsea Ballerini is back with a brand-new single that's sure to get some hearts racing. Her new EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, released earlier this year, is filled with honest emotions like heartache and healing.

Ballerini's six-song EP follows her divorce with former husband Morgan Evans, which was finalized in October. As she examines the events leading up to their separation, Ballerini emphasizes how difficult it can be to move on from the past.

"Mountain With a View" is the lead single from her EP, opening with Ballerini walking up the stairs to her home with a brown welcome mat at the front door. As she pauses at the top of the staircase to take in the stunning view of Mount Fuji, her home.

The song revolves around wanting a place you can call your own and feel at home in. Unfortunately, she doesn't always find what she desires - in fact, the track begins with her ex-husband returning home and feeling trapped within their confined apartment walls.

Ballerini's new song is the follow-up to her hit track "Heart First." This time around she's joined country star Fletcher for an emotional duet that promises a thrilling cliffhanger from beginning to end. To create the music video for it, they enlisted actors Gavin Leatherwood (Sabrina The Teenage Witch) and Ava Capri; depicting two parallel love stories that go from passionate to crumbling.

The video for "Better Version" serves as a poignant reminder that love can be messy and it doesn't always end happily. Fletcher and Ballerini effectively convey this sentiment through their split-screen scenes, illustrating that relationships have both joyful and tragic moments.

Mountain With a View

On Tuesday, February 14, country music star Christina Ballerini released her six-song EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat and accompanying short film of the same name. For this project - her most personal yet - she composed three of the tracks herself while working alongside frequent collaborator Alyssa Vanderheym on three others.

Ballerini opens her new album with "Mountain with a View," an intimate song that addresses the heartbreak of her divorce from Morgan Evans. The track is a quiet yet poignant examination of doubt and acceptance that leads to true understanding.

In August of last year, Ballerini and Evans announced they had filed for divorce after nearly five years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in October.

On this EP, Ballerini explores her personal feelings surrounding her divorce and its aftermath. Additionally, she talks about the steps she took to heal after separation.

She sings of a man who attempted to assist her after divorcing her husband, yet she labels him as a coward for only being interested in his money and not her happiness.

Ballerini's lyrics are poignant and raw, yet they effectively convey how she handled divorce. It's an open and honest way for the singer to share her emotions with listeners.

Ballerini's six-song EP serves as a timely reminder that she still has much to say and that music remains her primary passion. Additionally, she has big plans for 2019, such as launching her HEARTFIRST Tour this March and touring Europe in April.

Over For You

Kelsea Ballerini has released an Anti-Valentine's Day surprise: Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, a six-song EP and short film about her divorce from Morgan Evans. At midnight on February 14, Ballerini released this vulnerable project that examines both their near five year marriage as well as its aftermath.

Ballerini wrote and directed a six-song project, as well as a 20-minute short film that reenacts the end of her relationship with Evans. In the movie, she shares her story through candid moments filled with emotion.

Through her songs, Evans sings about their breakup and her decision to file for divorce. Additionally, she addresses any speculation about her weight or people taking sides in their split.

This poignant lyric speaks to how love can transform someone and shape one's identity. She's honest about her emotions during and after a breakup, yet also emphasizing her need for healing.

She takes a poignant journey into her grief and mourns the end of their relationship. In "Mountain With a View," Ballerini recalls all the good times they shared together, yet is candid about how she feels when considering its demise.

Another song, "Blindsided," asks the question: Was Ballerini blindsided by her divorce? She also talks about their time in therapy and how it helped them cope with difficult moments during their separation.

Ballerini ultimately finds her strength through honesty and the healing that comes from it. This album is deeply personal to her, and that's exactly how it should be.

If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)

On Tuesday, February 14, Kelsea Ballerini released her six-track EP and short film Rolling Up the Welcome Mat. This EP tells a tale about an unhappy marriage. Kelsea wrote the songs for this project while also filming it herself.

On her album "Victim," Ballerini opens up about her divorce with ex-husband Morgan Evans. In six songs and a touching short film, the singer-songwriter shares some harrowing details about their separation.

She explains in the video how she was able to leave her marriage despite its difficulties. She attributes this success to having a home she could afford and Dibs, her dog, who gave her security.

Her lyrics in the song are poignant and convey her emotions at that time. She laments how she had to leave her husband because he wasn't happy, yet couldn't talk to him honestly about them. It appears as if she wasn't ready for an honest relationship with him at that time.

She makes an interesting point in the song, emphasizing how hard she has worked to leave her marriage. It's a beautiful and vulnerable song that shows she must remain strong for herself even when doing so can be challenging.

This album boasts many enjoyable tracks, making for an overall enjoyable listening experience. She still retains her pop sensibilities but manages to beautifully balance them with her country roots for an impressive record.

This album marks her best work to date and it's a testament to her captivating storytelling talents. Whether she's singing about appreciating the little things or asserting that love is like a cowboy, her music always manages to be both entertaining and captivating.

You’re Drunk Go Home

Kelsea Ballerini recently collaborated with Carly Pearce and pop music icon Kelly Clarkson on her latest single "You're Drunk Go Home." This collaborative track can be found on her latest album, Subject to Change. This country track draws heavily from '90s traditional country beat and rockabilly vibe with electric and steel guitars as well as hypnotic walk-down bass.

This flirtatious song tells the tale of a woman meeting a man at a nightclub and starting an affair. Despite her attempts to tell him to leave, he keeps returning.

The lyrics of this song paint a vivid picture of an alcohol-fueled night out, filled with random hookups, drunken hugs, and copious amounts of drinking. As one might expect from its title "You're Drunk Go Home," it's an uptempo number that promises plenty of entertainment as you listen along.

Ballerini's vocals, in addition to her sassiness, are equally impressive. Whether singing about her own experiences with alcohol or those of others who have become drunken, her voice is strong and confident - an impressive combination.

She loves to use ambiguous language, which she utilizes in this song to hilarious effect. Her sassinty remarks make her sound like an actual stand-up comedian.

On Friday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ballerini joined her friend to talk about recording the playful new song she just released. They shared memories of having fun while recording it together.

It was fortunate that Ballerini was in such good spirits during her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, as she got to perform her brand new song, "You're Drunk Go Home," with Carly Pearce. In this humorous performance, they took turns reciting its humorous lyrics before an enthusiastic crowd of viewers.
