AP source Lakers bracing for James to miss multiple weeks

Los Angeles Lakers Bracing For LeBron James to Miss Multiple Weeks With a Foot Injury

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a foot injury sustained during Sunday's win against Dallas Mavericks. According to sources, James is seeking multiple opinions regarding his condition after suffering the injury during practice on Tuesday.

Los Angeles is counting on Anthony Davis to lead the team while James is out. The Lakers are on a four-game winning streak, but if James stays away too long, they could slow down.

Sources: Los Angeles Lakers are bracing for LeBron James to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss several weeks with a foot injury, according to AP. The veteran superstar suffered the right foot injury during Sunday's win against Dallas Mavericks, NBA analyst Shams Charania reported Monday.

Los Angeles Lakers (29-32) are hoping to move up in the Western Conference standings and into playoff contention, so any loss for James would be devastating. He's averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists this season - one of the most efficient and impactful players in the league during his fifth year with the franchise.

But the Lakers still have a long way to go before they can afford to lose James for any significant period of time. At present, they're one game behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the final play-in tournament spot with 21 games left, and losing James would severely hamper their chances of returning to the postseason.

The 38-year-old is coming off of a record-setting month, in which he set the all-time NBA scoring record. However, injuries have plagued him this season; a sore left ankle has kept him out of several games, and then came his latest setback against Dallas Mavericks on Sunday that further limited his playing time.

At the end of the third quarter against Dallas, LeBron James made an awkward landing on a layup attempt that may have resulted in his right ankle popping. Following the game, LeBron praised his team's win but expressed concern about his injury.

James can be seen limping after the game in a video released by the Lakers, yet he remains confident in his recovery. He plans to monitor his injury over the next few days and will get an MRI on Tuesday.

After the Memphis Grizzlies game, the Lakers will have two important games in a row on their schedule that rely on James to keep them in contention for a playoff berth. This isn't the first time James has missed significant portions of this season due to an injury, and without him this year has already proved challenging for them.

James hurt his foot in Sunday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks

The Los Angeles Lakers are expecting LeBron James to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury after he suffered it during Sunday's comeback win against the Dallas Mavericks. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, they "believe" James will be out for an indefinite period of time.

James suffered an injury after stepping on Dwight Powell's foot late in the third quarter of Sunday's 111-108 win against Dallas. Although he was able to finish the game and play all three quarters, there was clearly some discomfort with his right foot.

James was captured on ESPN cameras saying he "heard a pop" when his foot was injured. Additionally, he experienced intense pain, which could indicate something more serious than just a tweaked ankle.

Furthermore, James will likely require multiple opinions from doctors and medical specialists regarding his injury. He is scheduled for an evaluation on Monday, though it remains uncertain what the results will be.

But the greatest worry is that James may take some time to heal and return to action. This is especially important since the Lakers still have five games remaining on their schedule, including back-to-backs against teams competing for a playoff spot.

On Tuesday night, the Lakers have two games remaining against Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder at home. Without James, however, any of those contests appears unlikely to be won.

No matter if James plays or not, he's been an integral part of the Lakers' success this season. Since the All-Star break, he's averaged 25.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

If Blake doesn't suit up, the Lakers must rely on their bench players to help them win games. Rui Hachimura, Lonnie Walker and Anthony Davis are available along with Dennis Schroder who has been averaging 17.4 points per game for the Lakers.

James' absence will be a huge setback for the Lakers, who are hoping to make an impressive run in the NBA playoffs. While their roster has improved and James is no longer their only star, James' absence could significantly hinder their chances of victory down the stretch.

James is seeking multiple opinions on his injury

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a foot injury, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The 38-year-old All-Star suffered the twisting in his right foot during Sunday's 111-108 win against Dallas Mavericks but managed to play through it as his team overcame a 27-point deficit to claim victory.

James suffered an ankle injury while driving on Dallas defender Dwight Powell and missing a layup. At first, it was believed to be noncontact; however, James later claimed he heard a pop in his foot and attempted to play through it.

He played 37 minutes, scoring 26 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Unfortunately, his limp was evident after the game as he was seen limping around the locker room with it bothering him.

Therefore, the Lakers must be feeling vulnerable about their superstar's health. He has been an integral factor in their recent surge to 12th place in the Western Conference - just one game behind the New Orleans Pelicans for a play-in spot.

At the All-Star break, James declared the remaining 23 Lakers games as "the most crucial" of his career. This season he is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 47 games.

Now, with less than a month until the playoffs begin, the Lakers are searching for a way to climb back into contention for a top-six seed in the West. Before the All-Star break, they were 12th place - one game away from snagging one last play-in spot and 2 1/2 games off securing an elite six spot.

There are plenty of reasons to be worried about the team's future, but none more so than the possibility that their star player is now out with an injury which could hinder his ability to contribute. If James is out for an extended period, it will be up to the rest of the roster to step up and help Los Angeles make a deep run in the playoffs.

The Lakers are relying on Anthony Davis

Los Angeles Lakers are bracing for the possibility that LeBron James will miss multiple weeks with a foot injury that has developed since Sunday's win against Dallas Mavericks. That is an enormous blow for them as they have relied heavily on James and Russell Westbrook this season to help them make it into the NBA playoffs.

According to Heavy on Sports Keith Smith, the Lakers may be able to survive without their other two All-Stars if Anthony Davis returns soon from his foot injury. That eight-time All-Star has been having an outstanding stretch of basketball that would be a major boost for any team, especially an upstart like the Lakers.

Davis has averaged 27.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season in what many consider to be his best basketball season. Unfortunately, a foot injury sustained from a collision with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has limited him to playing less than half a game over the past month; however there's optimism that he will return before the All-Star break next month.

He has yet to resume full practices, but progress has been made in his recovery and he could return as early as next week - just in time for the Lakers' five-game road trip against Boston starting January 28.

Davis' return will not only increase the Lakers' chances of making the NBA playoffs, but it could also help them improve their standing within the Western Conference. With eight games left before the All-Star break against teams with winning records, and sitting 13th overall with a 21-25 record in the conference, Davis could help spur on some improvement.

Davis is only two games behind the sixth-place Clippers and could provide a major boost to their playoff prospects if Davis can make an immediate impact. That could even influence general manager Rob Pelinka's decision making around the NBA trade deadline on February 9.

With Davis back in the lineup, expect some major adjustments to how the Lakers play. They'll need to stagger James and Westbrook more than in past games and figure out how best to utilize Thomas Bryant's talents. But this is still an excellent chance for them to build some momentum before the All-Star break and gain an edge on other West teams.
