Jonathan Majors, a rising star in Hollywood, has been arrested on charges of assault. According to his lawyer, there is evidence which will prove Majors innocent and expects the charges against him to be dismissed soon.
Over the weekend, 33-year-old actor Majors was arrested and accused of assaulting a woman in Manhattan. Priya Chaudhry, Majors' attorney, has released text messages from what she claims are admissions from her accuser that she committed the offense.
Jonathan Majors' life has taken an unfortunate turn after his arrest on March 25. According to police reports, the Creed III star was detained due to an alleged domestic dispute with an unknown woman. According to police reports, the unidentified victim claimed she had been assaulted and suffered minor injuries to her head and neck during the ordeal.
Majors' lawyers have been tirelessly working to prove his innocence. On Thursday, they released text messages from the alleged assault victim as evidence that she admitted using physical force against Majors.
Majors' alleged victim communicates her dissatisfaction with being charged with assault in texts, insisting she wants the charges dropped and for her attorney general to do nothing more. She further mentions her desire "to ensure you are innocent of anything" and offers to offer assistance.
On Thursday, Majors' lawyer Priya Chaudhry shared the texts with ET and asserted they were evidence that the alleged victim admitted her guilt. According to their legal team, release of these texts will help prove Majors' innocence and remove any doubt from the public's eye.
According to TMZ, the victim's text messages were sent immediately after she returned from the hospital with her injuries. The first message reads, "I'm sorry I didn't call you right away."
The next text allegedly reads, "I was trying to calm down. I was upset that you were charged with assault, and I want the DA to drop this case."
After that, the woman claims she hasn't spoken to Majors since his arrest. She remains angry and plans on suing him.
Police were informed by an alleged victim that she had an altercation with Majors when he walked up behind her in a taxi. Majors was then arrested and charged with aggravated assault, strangulation and harassment. While his attorneys denied these accusations against him, he has now been placed under recognizance with continued surveillance while the case is investigated.
After Emmy-nominated actor Jonathan Majors was arrested for assault charges over the weekend, his lawyer has released text messages from alleged victim Priya Chaudhry. Per TMZ, Priya Chaudhry has shared these texts with media outlets.
Majors has recently experienced backlash after his successful roles, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Creed III, and his most recent Sundance film entry Magazine Dreams, led to him being removed from an Army campaign featuring him.
Majors was accused of using abusive language against his girlfriend, leading to an uproar on social media as many questioned whether the actor was innocent or guilty of the crimes brought against him.
On Saturday, March 25, Majors was arrested after responding to a 911 call made by the woman. When police arrived at her apartment, it was alleged that Majors had assaulted the victim.
Ultimately, the 33-year-old was charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. After being arraigned on these charges, he was released from custody without further incident.
One day after Majors was released, his case took an interesting turn when the actress allegedly sent him a text message acknowledging her responsibility in the incident and threatening to sue. This text message was shared by Majors' attorney with TMZ on Thursday morning.
Majors' alleged victim claims she used physical force against him and was able to flee. Additionally, she informs the actor that she does not wish him prosecuted.
Another text appears to come from the alleged victim expressing her fear that her identity would be publicized and worrying about her mental health. Additionally, she states she wanted to speak with him but he wasn't available at the time.
At present, it remains uncertain how much text messages influence public opinion towards Majors' innocence. His attorney has stated that there is enough evidence to prove his innocence; now it will be up to the District Attorney and court to decide if Majors will be freed from charges or not.
Last week, when Jonathan Majors was arrested on assault charges, his lawyer claimed she had evidence to clear him. Now TMZ reports she's sharing screenshots allegedly sent from the woman accused of assaulting Majors; in them, it appears she admits her error and wants the district attorney to drop charges against the actor.
According to previous reports, Majors was arrested over the weekend after reportedly assaulting a woman he was dating in a taxi in New York City on March 24. The alleged victim became upset when another woman texted the Creed III star and attempted to look at his phone.
Police reported that Majors was taken to the hospital with a head injury. But her lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, has shared screenshots of text exchanges which appear to show the alleged victim admitting her fault and expressing regret over her actions.
In one text message, the alleged victim expresses her anger at Majors' arrest and demands the District Attorney drop all charges against him. She then goes on to apologize for her actions and mentions how she had been praying and thinking about Majors while in the hospital.
Later in the same message, she acknowledges she didn't know what happened and states that she "never asked for charges to be filed against you." She then goes on to explain that she would be going to the hospital after being arrested - which she ultimately did.
After some time has elapsed, the alleged victim sends Majors another text message in order to request that the District Attorney drop charges against him and express her regret for his arrest. The exchange continues several more times with her wanting to ensure that no charges will be laid against Majors while also insinuating she would be going to the hospital.
Majors' legal team appears to be hoping these texts will clear him of any wrongdoing, but Twitter users are not so sure. Some believe the alleged victim's retraction will only serve to weaken her case against them.
Jonathan Majors had been on a meteoric rise in Hollywood, staring in Creed III and earning critical acclaim for his film Magazine Dreams at Sundance Film Festival. But that success was abruptly put on hold when he was arrested last weekend in New York for a domestic dispute with a woman.
The actor was arrested on several counts of misdemeanor assault and harassment after responding to a 911 call at an apartment in Chelsea from Majors. It's alleged that they got into an altercation with the 30-year-old woman, who was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck.
Priya Chaudhry, Majors' lawyer, published texts from an alleged victim that she claimed would help prove their client's innocence. These messages reveal that the individual admits she was responsible for the incident and has worked diligently to have all charges dropped.
She claims it was her own fault for not calling the police sooner, and is also "angry" that Majors was arrested due to injuries she saw on him. She then threatens to sue him for his alleged actions, asserting she never asked for charges against him.
Majors is a rising star in the Marvel universe, and his recent films have earned critical acclaim. His works include Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, both of which earned Oscar nominations this year.
Chaudhry asserted in a statement to Variety that the actor was innocent and likely the victim of an altercation with someone he knew. She went on to explain that her team was gathering evidence and will present it to the District Attorney for review.
On TMZ the following day, another message from the woman appeared, this time in response to Chaudhry's claim that she is 'angry' at him for being arrested. This woman expressed her desire for charges to be dropped and expressed that Majors was arrested because she felt like a victim of his violence.
