I OPENED A 5 STAR MCDONALDS

McDonald's fans know their restaurants aren't your typical fast food joint. That's why some franchise owners have gone the extra mile to make their establishments stand out from others.

Example of this are two New York City McDonald's that were designed to look like vintage theaters. Another was situated inside of a Greek Revival house.

1. Times Square

Times Square in Manhattan's heart is known as The Crossroads of the World and is renowned for its bright lights, numerous billboards, and colorful characters that pass by. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants, and Broadway shows nearby which make this an ideal destination to visit.

Before it became the renowned destination that it is today, Times Square was an unsavory area known for drugs, prostitution and crime. So bad was it that some even dubbed it "worst block in town".

Mayors Ed Koch and David Dinkins initiated a redevelopment project for the city in the 1980s, leading to extensive cleaning up of Times Square. There was an unprecedented drive to shut down pornographic theaters, sex shops and other filthy businesses that littered this renowned neighborhood.

Since then, it has blossomed into the bustling tourist destination that it is today. Always packed with people and full of energy, there's never a dull moment in this area.

Times Square has become a must-visit tourist destination due to its central location in New York's theater district, featuring all of the marquees for different Broadway shows. As such, thousands of people flock here each year to witness these performances.

2. Roswell

It's no secret that McDonald's, the world's largest fast food chain, is more than just about burgers. There are numerous stunning McDonald's locations around the world - from a salmon pink store in Lisbon to an alien-shaped location in Roswell, New Mexico.

Roswell may not be the most obvious destination for a McDonald's, but the town is known for its alien-themed businesses and attractions. Roswell has been capitalizing on the UFO craze for years now, even using extraterrestrial themes to advertise their establishments.

Roswell boasts a variety of unique attractions that draw in tourists from around the globe. Old Mill Park, for instance, is a favorite destination for families and photographers alike.

The city also features numerous other museums and historic sites. For instance, The New Mexico Military Institute has a long-standing tradition of graduating some of the country's most esteemed military leaders.

If you're a food enthusiast, The Mill Kitchen and Bar is an ideal destination for lunch, dinner or brunch in Downtown Roswell. Situated on Main Street, their menu boasts fresh ingredients sourced locally whenever possible.

Old Mill Park offers an array of interpretive trails that lead to scenic areas along the Chattahoochee River. Home to the remains of Roswell Mill, this historic site should not be missed by those seeking some outdoor fun.

3. Freeport

In the sleepy seaside town of Freeport, Maine, sits a chic Golden Arches outlet inside the iconic Gore House - a classic Victorian mansion constructed in 1850 by local merchant William Gore.

Freeport is a popular tourist destination, featuring shops, seafood stands and stunning ocean views. It also boasts some iconic landmarks like L.L. Bean store, outlet malls and luxury brands like Polo Ralph Lauren and Burberry.

Freeport, New York has a rich and colorful past. Once an oystering community and popular resort destination for New York City theatergoers, Freeport still holds much of its past alive today.

Now, it's a popular tourist destination just 45 minutes away from Manhattan. Additionally, it serves as the entrance to Jones Beach, one of Long Island's most stunning beaches.

McDonald's proposed construction of a fast food restaurant in the town, but ultimately it proved to be beneficial for all parties involved. Residents were concerned that the corporation would ruin their pristine home; thus, McDonald's agreed to remove most of its gauche branding and set up shop inside an elegant residential area instead.

The interior of this restaurant is far more elegant than your average Fast Food joint, featuring floral valance curtains and warm lamps. Walls are covered with archival photos of Freeport's landmarks, along with golden information plaques. Wood booth seating in the dining room lends it a contemporary look while industrial hanging lights add an air of class.

4. Houston

Houston is a bustling metropolis that has plenty to offer. It boasts an eclectic culture and strong economy, as well as low living costs and growing populations that make it appealing for both businesses and families alike.

It's also known for its energy industry and aerospace sector, making it a desirable location for those working in these fields or looking to start their own venture. Furthermore, Phoenix boasts one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America with over 25% of its residents born outside the US.

Houston can get quite hot during the summertime. On the other hand, its winters tend to be milder than other parts of Texas.

As a newcomer to the city, you may feel overwhelmed trying to explore all its sights. Thankfully, resources like trip advisor or aroundme app can provide invaluable assistance with getting acquainted with the area and giving you ideas of what to do.

You can also explore local restaurants in the area or places to go for certain types of cuisine. Doing this makes transitioning into Houston much smoother and may even get you excited about your new residence!

Another wonderful aspect of Houston is the opportunity to experience southern hospitality at its finest. Many who have relocated here from the South have brought their regional soul food traditions with them, such as crawfish etouffee, barbecue, fried chicken, smothered oxtail and other classic Louisiana bayou dishes.

5. St. Louis

St. Louis is the second-largest city in Missouri and one of the largest bi-state metropolitan areas in America. Situated near the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, this Midwestern metropolis is alive with culture and history.

Planners in St Louis have created an aesthetically pleasing city, featuring plenty of green space amid buildings both old and new, bordered by majestic Mississippi and Missouri rivers. The world's tallest man-made monument, the Gateway Arch, adds to this vibrant hub's global appeal.

This McDonald's is space-themed, paying homage to the nearby NASA space center. It also includes a play area. A statue of an astronaut sits atop the roof and walls are lined with characters from "McDonaldland" wearing space suits and posing against a starry background.

Though this was an ideal location for the restaurant, it proved challenging to maintain its open air atmosphere during cold weather. A glass enclosure was added but it still wasn't enough to prevent people from waiting outside in the cold.

Growing up, I remember hanging out there during summers as a kid and how often ketchup, mustard and other liquids would get on the benches that weren't cleaned often enough. Not only was it unhygienic but also uncomfortable and discolored.

This is an enjoyable destination if you're in search of some local craft beers and food to complement them. The vibrant mosaics add a nice touch, while the bar offers live entertainment every weekend.

6. Sydney

Sydney, Australia's most populous city, boasts numerous iconic landmarks as well as McDonald's - the world's most beloved fast food restaurant.

McDonald's has taken their restaurants to a whole new level with this ambitious initiative: creating a 'Sky Kitchen' over the order counter at Sydney airport! Reimagining fast food is now part of everyday life!

McDonald's in Sydney has revamped their classic Big Mac with a menu that eliminates sugary buns and processed beef. The Corner, now called The Corner, features white frontage, rustic wooden seating, and potted plants for an eco-friendly vibe.

Market experts note that the menu offers "build your own" burgers, as well as salads and other options. The "learning labs" are an attempt to capitalize on an increasing desire for healthy foods and sophisticated service, according to market experts.

Fast-casual restaurants such as Nandos, Shake Shack and Grill'd are competing to attract customers with healthier menu items and higher-quality ingredients. McDonald's has been slow to adapt to this changing landscape.

McDonald's is taking action against this by investing in Australia with 19 new restaurants and reinvesting in 80 existing ones, totalling $130 million over the next few years for construction and operations - creating more than 4,000 jobs nationwide.
