Hundreds of Items From a Closed Atlanta Walmart Store Are Up For Grabs at an Online AuctionItems from a closed Walmart store in Atlanta are up for auction online, including shelving units, fixtures and office furniture. Vine City residents will soon have access to groceries and pharmacy services at 835 Martin Luther King Jr Drive as part of Target's Neighborhood Market concept, while 1801 Howell Mill Road remains permanently closed. Store Closings Walmart stores provide millions of Americans across the US with affordable access to groceries and essentials at discounted prices, yet even it cannot escape store closures; last February alone it closed several "underperforming" locations nationwide, including Georgia. Walmart's recent decisions to close stores with weak financial performance has caused shoppers to fear their local Walmart will never reopen again. One source of concern in Atlanta is Walmart on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. 11Alive reports that its entrance has been boarded up with no signs of work taking place; 11Alive reached out to them for comment, but so far has received nothing back. Atlanta Walmart stores have also been hit with several fires in recent months. One blaze in Peachtree City caused them to temporarily close, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution back in December, while an incident at one of Selma, Alabama store forced it to be temporarily closed as well. Walmart has since reopened most of their stores following fire, although some remain closed or "permanently closed." For example, Howell Mill Road Walmart still is not back open following its fire in December 2022 and remains marked "permanently closed" on Google. Walmart is currently auctioning off hundreds of items left behind after the fire to give hope that it could reopen soon. CrossBid Auction is conducting the auction from its Howell Mill Road location and selling an extensive array of merchandise including shelving units, fixtures, office furniture and supplies - many items are even being offered at dollar or less prices! CrossBid is no stranger to auctioning off items from fire-damaged stores; previously, they've auctioned off goods from Target fires in California and Colorado Macy's locations. Over the past year, Walmart has experienced multiple fires at different locations - two occurring in Atlanta alone; others being reported at Peachtree City, Selma and Webster New York. Hundreds of Items Up for Grabs On Tuesday, a new auction went online offering items from a closed Walmart store in Atlanta. From laptops and phones to cameras and designer bags, this auction is sure to attract bargain hunters in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Theodore Bruce Auctioneers will host the auction, which boasts of offering "a treasure trove of tech." Bidding starts at $5 with no minimum bid set and all proceeds going toward supporting local charities, according to a release from Theodore Bruce Auctioneers. Pittsburgh International Airport will host another auction featuring high-end items for bidding - such as cars, trucks and strollers -- as well as laptops, Kindles and wedding rings, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Although an airport auction is an annual event, this one marks its debut online platform. Users will have the ability to view each auction and place bids when it best suits them. Some of the more eye-catching items include an impressive mandolin in its own case and an extremely rare snowboarding helmet equipped with two GoPro cameras attached. Both items make an impressionful display. Another school in Indiana is holding an auction to sell off some of their memorabilia, not quite in the traditional sense, but definitely interesting enough for our consideration. New Harmony Superintendent Fran Theole believes it will provide items coming to their end of life an outlet to find new homes, adding: Getting Ready for the Auction No matter your auctioneering experience level, there are certain steps that you can take to prepare for an auction event. By being well prepared in advance, you can ensure everything runs smoothly and don't miss any deals that arise during your auctioneering session. As part of any sale process, it's essential that one understands the basics of an auction sale. In contrast to a traditional sale where a seller sets their desired price and the buyer pays it directly, in an auction buyers vie against one another to become the highest bidder and purchase the item at auction. Auctioneers oversee this process by inviting bidding and starting the sale; then the highest bidder wins the item. Buyers who purchase items at auctions enter into legal contracts that obligate them to make payments within 10 days. Importantly, items sold at auctions are sold as-is; meaning there's nothing you can do to alter or fix their condition once purchased. You should take great care in ensuring that they look their best to attract more bidders to the sale. Research the value of items you plan to bid on at an auction before entering. While it might be tempting to bring an unnecessarily higher bid, doing so can often result in overpayment and missed deals. Searching the auction company website will enable you to quickly assess the value of items up for auction, as well as recent auction results that show you what a similar item has sold for in previous auctions. Once you've determined the value of the items you wish to buy, set yourself a spending limit. Your limit should not be too high or low so as not to disturb competition among buyers. What to Expect At an online auction hosted by Walmart Atlanta's former store in Atlanta are hundreds of items up for bid - shelving units, office supplies, ICEE machines and TVs being among them. CrossBid Auction Company was chosen for this task and took immediate steps to prepare. They launched a Twitter campaign designed to appeal to bargain hunters before hiring an expert team in order to guarantee an unqualified success of their auction. Shoppers will have plenty to choose from at this auction, as both goods and the name of the winning bidder will be on display for people to peruse. A frenzy of activity should ensue over the next several days - most potential problems should be ironed out prior to auction day itself but to get the best deals it is advisable to secure deals early; after all this company has a proven track record in keeping customers satisfied through meeting promises made. Consumers face an ongoing struggle when it comes to taking advantage of all their available opportunities, but Walmart's highly trained staff is more than ready to assist them. Furthermore, plans call for the long-closed Vine City store to reopen as one of their Neighborhood Market concepts in 2019.
