Haru Nemuri's New Album: A Deep Dive Into the Emotions Behind the Music

After making waves with her 2018 album Haru to Shura, the Yokohama-based rock singer returns with an eclectic new set of tracks that expand her sound beyond Japanese rock into other styles. Haru Nemuri's album Sanctum Sanctorum takes us on a powerful and emotional journey that ranges from raw emotions and sensations, such as anger and prayer to her personal struggle with her feelings - creating an experience you won't soon forget! With lyrics like love, anger, prayer and Haru Nemuri's own experiences of struggle her lyrics leave an indelible mark that will stay with listeners long after listening has finished. Her heartfelt message will linger long into your future! The opening track “Sanctum Sanctorum” Haru Nemuri is a Japanese singer-songwriter known for her distinctive blend of J-pop, rap, post-hardcore music, experimental pop, and art rock. Her musical style has been heavily influenced by Cyberpunk artists, Punk music, and an overall "Punk mentality". Haru Nemuri shows her remarkable talents with A Deep Dive into the Emotions Behind the Music, her debut full-length release that showcases her ability to craft an original and eclectic sound while maintaining individuality across each track. Haru exudes confidence as she shares her craft with the world - now ready to show her craft to its fullest extent! "Sanctum Sanctorum" sets an unforgettable atmosphere when opening this album. Starting out slow and intimate before building to an explosive finish. One of the most captivating opening tracks I have heard in quite some time and an incredible way to start this magnificent record off right! Through out this album there is a wide range of emotions present, spanning from love and happiness songs to songs with darker undertones. This album is truly amazing to listen to and will enchant both fans and newcomers alike. It is an exquisite tribute to music's ability to provide hope and strength - an album every collector should add! With incredible vocals, lyrics, rhythmic arrangements and intricate production it will take you on an incredible journey that won't soon forget! “Heart of Gold” Haru Nemuri explores the emotions behind music with her latest album. The resultant track provides an immersive musical experience sure to please fans of musical arts alike. "Heart of Gold," the opening track on this album, begins with an instrumental that's reminiscent of classic rock songs - its muted guitar notes and softly voiced vocals provide both comfort and motivation simultaneously. Song lyrics also address emotions related to each season - from winter through to spring - while also paying homage to both Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky composers. Nemuri clearly draws inspiration from many different areas, and her album showcases this. While not perfect, this record should definitely be checked out. Nemuri's performances are undeniably captivating as she poetically raps while playing her own instruments. Additionally, her unconventionally edgy approach engages an audience effectively - making for exciting live shows. Not easily accessible for most listeners makes Nemuri's shows all the more thrilling - she has been touring overseas over recent years, performing at such venues as South by Southwest in March 2023! “Quarantine” Haru Nemuri is a Japanese singer-songwriter, poet, and rapper from Yokohama who writes, produces, and arranges her own music. As soon as her debut album "Haru to Shura" was released in Japan, it sold out almost instantly and is still selling copies today. Additionally, she played at Primavera Sound Festival, and toured throughout Asia before undertaking a North America tour in 2022. Shukka Ryougen is an ambitious twenty-one song album that draws from various genres for inspiration. Listeners will find this record particularly engaging to listen to. If you enjoy a combination of post hardcore, noise rock, and experimental art rock music then this album will surely leave an impactful and positive mark in your heart. It is sure to leave an unforgettable memory as well as provide hope for our world. Through this record, she explores an array of emotions from anger to frustration to joy and beyond. Her voice surges with powerful emotion at times even breaking out in screams! Her screams are also extremely intense, particularly on "Shunka Ryougen". While angry, she remains composed and aware of her emotions; not fearing to express them openly as would many other artists would, this artist truly stands out as one of the year's finest releases. “Heart of Fire” Haru Nemuri's new album, SHUNKA RYOUGEN, boasts twenty-one tracks! Set for release April 22nd digitally and vinyl formats alike. As an avid music lover, I frequently delve deep into an album's lyrics in search of hidden meanings or overarching stories that help me gain more insight into its artists' minds and gain better knowledge of them. Many lyrics can be difficult to decipher upon first listen, particularly when combined with music itself. As you listen more and explore further into each song's meaning, however, more will become clear. Haru Nemuri's new album features an incredible track titled "Heart of Fire", which serves as an excellent example of an artist using their music to express themselves emotionally and express feelings through lyrics that strike an emotional chord with listeners. Give this powerful track a listen! The album also contains many unique elements, with different tracks taking different approaches. Some tracks such as "Never Let You Go," where Nemuri sings of her emotional struggle with moving past events, can be very dark and emotive, while other songs feature shimmering art pop sounds with reverberating percussion and electronic samples for added sparkle and vibrance. Overall, this album represents an outstanding blend of different styles of music all coming together to form something truly stunning and beautiful. “Heart of Ice” Haru Nemuri's second album will be out April 22nd under the name Shunka Ryougen and can be purchased here. Haru created an intensely personal sound in her debut, drawing inspiration from everything from post-hardcore icons such as Fugazi to Japanese avant-garde music legend Susumu Hirasawa. It was an impressive kaleidoscope filled with loud, maximalist love that seemed unstoppable; an early indicator that Haru might become an indestructible force. Though expectations were high, they were met swiftly: following Haru to Shura, she found herself catapulted onto the international stage like few Japanese artists before. With series of packed shows across Europe and her relentless energy and emotional sincerity helping build her fan base worldwide. Now, Haru is taking her music one step further with the release of A Deep Dive into the Emotions Behind the Music, her full-length release that promises to please both fans and listeners. Be sure to give it a listen! The title track is an intense synth-rap number that will get your head bobbing. There are plenty of surprising sonic elements throughout this record and although some tracks don't quite hit their mark, most are truly fantastic. “Paradise” Haru Nemuri's new album provides an emotional exploration through music. Her soundscape spans solemn Baroque organ and fanfare trumpets of "Sanctum Sanctorum," to sacrilegious lyrics about Golgotha and Judas found on "Deconstruction". Together they weave an intricate web of sounds which may sound explosive but bring deep emotion. She seamlessly moves between j-pop, rap, hardcore and electronic styles and blends all these influences to craft her signature sound. "Sanctum Sanctorum" kicks off the album with an atmospheric introduction of nature noises and reverb guitar amidst birds chirping through trees while Nemuri sings of love and spirit. Beginning beautifully, this song takes an unnerving turn midway. A melancholic lament on our world and current state of affairs. As the track unfolds, its reverb guitars grow louder while Nemuri sings of love that will never last or provide true fulfillment. Her voice can sometimes be harsh, yet still manages to carry the lyrics with beauty and truthfulness. She doesn't hesitate to express what's on her mind. She has long been revered for her willingness to take risks and push herself outside her comfort zone, making her such an engaging artist. Unfortunately, Shunka Ryougen does not live up to these dramatic promises quite as effectively, though it remains an enjoyable listening experience nonetheless.
