Though these features are great, there are still some drawbacks to using IMAX cameras. Some of the main issues include ergonomics and difficulty focusing, especially during action sequences. Furthermore, due to its weight and requirement for large film stock, moving around on set with such a heavy device can be challenging.

To address these challenges, IMAX is teaming up with some of the biggest names in cinema to develop four new 65mm film cameras that will be released over the course of several years and boost IMAX's 65mm camera fleet capacity by 50%.
