Drake & 21 Savage - Spin Bout U Official Music Video
Toronto rapper Drake recently joined forces with Grammy award-winning music star 21 Savage to release an impressive song titled, Spin Bout U. This track was taken from their collaborative project Her Loss - a 16 track collection of work.
The video tells a tale of excess, love, loss and revenge. The two main characters enjoy an extravagant cruise before, after saving a woman, she drugs them both and takes them hostage.
Drake and 21 Savage take to the high seas in their latest collaboration, "Spin Bout U." Set to a stylish blend of hip-hop, r&b and pop music directed by Dave Meyers, the action-packed visual opens with Drake and Savage relaxing on board a million dollar yacht called Her Loss before saving a beautiful model who's stranded in the ocean.
Drizzy and Savage seduce her with their attractive curves before she divulges her plan to rob them of their valuable jewelry, guns and marijuana. An all-female heist crew then arrives on board the yacht to execute a raid on it - taking hostages and taking away all their riches.
It's an exhilarating and thrilling music video that will have you eager to watch it again, especially since the heist comes as such a shock. Additionally, this marks another major milestone in the duo's wildly successful Her Loss album.
Her Loss quickly became one of 2022's top albums, selling over 44,000 album-equivalent units in its opening week and garnering 514 million on-demand streams overall. However, its success wasn't without controversy; many criticized its message or lack thereof.
Her Loss' most iconic song was the title track, which features an intensely dramatic opening that could be heard as a call to arms for women's rights. At one point during the song, Drake delivers an controversial line.
He raps, "This b--- lie about getting shots, but she still a stallion" in apparent insult to fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion who claimed Tory Lanez injured her at a Hollywood party back in 2020.
Unfortunately, this only serves to highlight the culture of misogyny in hip-hop. That this sexism was so explicit and directly directed at Megan should have served as a warning sign for all.
Even if it was unnecessary, Megan did manage to bring attention to an issue that is prevalent within both music and culture at large. After the album released, she did issue several tweets addressing the controversy and calling out Drake for his remarks; however, her account has since been taken down.
When it comes to Drake's music, none other than longtime producer 40. Together they've collaborated since Drake's debut mixtape So Far Gone in 2013, creating some of the finest albums this decade has to offer.
40 was instrumental in pioneering the spaced-out, R&B sound of rap music that would forever change it. Drawing inspiration from samples such as Brandy's "I Dedicate (Part II") and Aaliyah's "Stay Together," 40 created an innovative style that quickly gained notoriety within the industry.
He's played an instrumental role in Drake's rise to stardom, creating beats or coproducing every album for the Toronto rapper and guaranteeing that each record produced has been of top-notch quality. Drake owes much of his success to him - his commitment has paid off handsomely.
With his knack for crafting trap-inspired records, 40 has collaborated with an array of artists. He's collaborated with rappers such as Tay Keith, Lil Yachty and Young Thug on songs that feature infectious melodies, powerful 808s and energetic piano compositions.
Another of his collaborators is Atlanta-based producer BanBwoi, renowned for her work with artists like 21 Savage, Lil Baby and Durkio. On tracks such as "Medical," "How It Feels" and "Who I Want," BanBwoi injects some of that same sonic weight by fusing classic samples with hypnotic beats.
Her Loss, the duo's latest release, is filled with collaborations that showcase their natural ability to bring out the best in each other. The tracklist features numerous producers that have been crucial in their careers such as Metro Boomin, Noah '40' Shebib and Boi-1da.
Her Loss is an impressive collection of songs that showcase Drizzy's versatility as a rapper. His wordplay remains at the forefront, but he's joined by esteemed production from artists like BandPlay, JR Swiftz and The Alchemist to create this masterpiece.
Moneybagg Yo's album is a testament to how powerful and impactful his lyrics are, making it one of the most significant releases this year. His hard-hitting bars, vivid metaphors and strong songwriting have already proven to be game changers for this Memphis-based artist.
After weeks of speculation and false interviews, Drake and 21 Savage finally released their joint album Her Loss on Friday. The 16-track record debuted at number one on Billboard 200 and is currently streaming on Spotify.
This album includes popular tracks such as "Rick Flex," "Major Distribution," and "Pussy & Millions" with Travis Scott. Additionally, it includes the hit single, "Spin Bout U."
Her Loss, produced by Metro Boomin and DJ X Eli, was widely anticipated when it dropped at number one on Billboard Hot 100 in its initial week of release. With sales of 404,000 album-equivalent units in just seven days, Her Loss quickly became one of hip hop's most beloved records.
Her Loss was originally scheduled for an October release date, but was quickly altered due to a week-long delay. Additionally, the duo employed several promotional tricks in order to boost awareness of their album - such as creating a fake cover of Vogue magazine and attending an unreal NPR Tiny Desk concert.
With their album now released, rappers have shared a brand-new track entitled "Privileged". This song exudes an unsettling atmosphere with its dark and menacing video.
Drizzy and 21 Savage take center stage on the album to talk about having their own brand and being "Privileged" in the industry. Additionally, they enlist Nigerian singer Tems for this track; she features prominently in the official music video for the song.
This video is a must-watch and showcases the duo's abilities. They are joined by an ensemble of models whose outfits perfectly match the music.
In the video, they are on a yacht and can be seen wearing high-end jewelry and luxury items. Additionally, they posing for photos with model Qui Yasuka, better known by her nickname: Suki Baby.
Rappers Drake and Meghan Trainor can be heard rapping to "Spin Bout U," where they both try to fit in on Drake's song, "Rich Flex." Here they showcase their distinct style and delivery. The song has been getting a lot of airplay lately and has quickly become one of their fan favorites, especially on radio stations.
Drake and 21 Savage have been busy promoting their 2022 collaborative LP Her Loss. One month after its release, they took to the stage at New York City's Apollo theater for an emotional performance.
Now, they've released a video to accompany the song. Directed by Dave Meyers, the clip takes on more of an action-oriented tone than usual but still features plenty of Drizzy and Savage action.
The clip begins with two rappers relaxing on board what appears to be an expensive yacht. It's definitely one of the priciest places I've ever seen two rappers hang out.
But their lives take an unexpected turn when they spot a woman drowning in the ocean. They rescue her and bring her aboard their boat, but soon afterwards are interrupted by a group of pirates intent on robbing them of all their possessions.
Overall, the video does a good job at conveying what it's like to be part of an exciting heist. It's quite entertaining too!
Though not quite as polished and impressive as Jumbotron Shit Poppin or Rich Flex videos, it still manages to create an impressive piece of cinematic art. Additionally, it pays homage to the duo's Her Loss album with its impressive track list.
Produced by 40 & BanBwoi with cinematography handled by Scott Cunningham, their latest video is an inevitable addition to their Her Loss roster.
Though the aforementioned video is certainly the star of the show, it's not as thrilling as Her Loss' other big hit: "Spin Bout U." In this video, they receive attention from a beautiful model who needs help and ends up getting drugged and robbed.
