Demi Lovato, The Jonas Brothers and More Riff on Viral Barbie Movie Meme
Before the release of Barbie, a movie about the life of a woman whose husband is famous for being in a band, some musicians took to social media with hilarious jokes about it. Former Hole frontwoman Courtney Love was among them.
Demi Lovato has also collaborated with Joe Jonas, whom she previously dated for a short period of time.
On Tuesday, Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, ignited an online social media storm with its vibrant trailer and cast posters. Starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the movie opens in July. A tweet from the film's Twitter account featuring individual posters for Robbie, Gosling, Dua Lipa in a Party City wig, Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren and Michael Cera amassed millions of views and more than 170,000 likes on Instagram alone.
Page Six reports that The Jonas Brothers & More, who recently ended their Broadway run with "The Last Five Years," joined in on the Barbie fun. To celebrate their fellow Broadway stars, they held an unexpected party at a New York club and served pizza to those in attendance, according to sources.
It's not the first time The Jonas Brothers have attacked purity ring-poster children, as Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx did recently. Check out some of their finest tunes below and don't forget to listen to their latest song, "Waffle House," for some good humor and pure fun!
Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers' connection is legendary. After touring together since "Camp Rock," these two have seen it all in pop culture - from dealing with rumor mongers to facing down adversities that come along with being Hollywood's next big thing. But there was once a time when they were more like siblings than bandmates. Check out the video above to hear their most memorable quotes about being in the spotlight; it's definitely worth watching once or twice!
As the Jonas Brothers prepare to perform on "Saturday Night Live" (April 8), NBC has released a series of promotional videos featuring host Molly Shannon and musical guests. In one clip, Shannon channels her character Mary Katherine Gallagher by asking everyone to smell their armpits to de-stress.
She also lets Kevin, Joe and Nick know she's nervous to be working with them on the show. But she reassures them that their nerves should not stay in her head; and that she will be by their side throughout every step of the process.
The Jonas Brothers' appearances on Saturday Night Live have always been nerve-wracking for the trio, so that's why they chose to have extra support when it came to their performance this weekend - which is exactly why Saturday Night Live cast member Ego Nwodim joined them as well.
Nwodim, who's a huge fan of Shannon, confides in the sibling trio that she is nervous about her "SNL" hosting gig this week. However, that doesn't stop her from having fun with the siblings anyway.
She tells the boys she's an experienced "SNL" veteran and enjoys spending time with her characters, such as 50-and-proud high kicker Sally O'Malley and NPR "Delicious Dish" host Terry Rialto. Additionally, she states she's looking forward to having a "psyched" Easter egg hunt with them!
For the "Wings," having their beloved cast and musical guest back on stage is an immense advantage. And from what the latest promos suggest, they're sure to have a wonderful experience this weekend on NBC's comedy show.
In the "SNL" promo, Nwodim asks if the siblings are excited for the show and they quickly reply that it will be "like nothing you've ever seen before." That's an adamant statement, but it holds true.
It is also true that they have gone through a lot in the past year, which may explain why they feel overwhelmed. Toured, won a Grammy Award and even experienced public romances and breakups during this period.
