Damar Hamlin End Game Bills GM Brandon Beane Provides Update

On Monday night, the NFL world watched helplessly as Buffalo Bills second-year safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during a routine play. After medical staff administered CPR to him, the game was ultimately stopped.

Hamlin's heroic tackle of Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins proved to be a moment of pure terror, lasting only seconds before he succumbed to cardiac arrest. Football fans across America will always remember this terrifying scene.

Bills GM Brandon Beane Provides Update on Damar Hamlin

Damar Hamlin still has a long road ahead of him before the Bills can hope he can play football again. Since suffering a cardiac arrest in January, the safety has been seeing specialists and according to Beane, is making good progress.

On Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Bills General Manager Brandon Beane provided an update on Hamlin's condition. He expressed that Hamlin is eager to return and is taking all necessary steps in that direction; however, with more medical appointments still needing to be completed it remains uncertain whether Hamlin will be cleared to play at this time.

On Friday afternoon, Beane shared with reporters that Hamlin could finally receive full clearance to play, and the Bills plan on continuing their collaboration in that regard. With such a positive outlook, Beane had nothing but smiles in his eyes as he discussed Hamlin's future prospects with reporters.

He stated the team is "hoping and praying" he'll be able to return. If so, the Bills can celebrate a successful season as well as an incredible recovery.

Hamlin's family and teammates have also shown Hamlin their support, with Beane stating that the Bills plan to remain in Cincinnati while they work towards hastening his recovery process.

In the meantime, the Bills are gearing up for their playoff game against New England this weekend and hope to secure home-field advantage throughout the first two rounds of the postseason. However, if they don't, it will be an emotional week in Buffalo - which is part of why Beane addressed the media on Friday.

At his press conference, Beane addressed Hamlin's condition, acknowledged the outpouring of support from around the world and noted how Hamlin has had face-to-face communication with his teammates via FaceTime. Finally, he spoke of Hamlin's inspiration to so many people.

Hamlin has not only played for the Buffalo Bills, but he has also been an enthusiastic supporter of charities and causes close to his heart. As founder of Chasing M's Foundation - which organizes toy drives and other initiatives for children - Hamlin's organization has raised over $9 million in support of these causes, earning him recognition with Alan Page Community Award in February.

The Bills haven’t made a decision on Hamlin’s future

The Bills have yet to make a final determination on Hamlin's status, but they remain optimistic about his chances of playing in the near future.

GM Brandon Beane, known for his conservative and thoughtful approach, never lets an injury get him down. But when it comes to players like Hamlin, he takes nothing for granted.

Hamlin hasn't played since suffering cardiac arrest during the opening quarter of a game against the Bengals, but his presence has brought an upbeat energy to Buffalo - especially during big games. His presence serves as a reminder that Hamlin strives to give back to his community - something which he says he always strives for.

Hamlin is an incredibly strong, hardworking, determined individual who has always strived to be a role model for his brother Damir and others in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. That drive helped him earn admission into Central Catholic where he played football for two years before transferring to Pitt.

Hamlin was known for being one of the hardest workers on his team and serving as a mentor to younger kids in his neighborhood. That desire to help was what ultimately inspired him to join the Bills - the team he had always dreamed of playing for.

The Bills are taking him along for the journey to Sunday's game against Cincinnati, which promises to be their biggest test yet. It also serves as an opportunity for them to pay tribute to a former star who is still recovering from cardiac arrest that nearly ended his career.

Hamlin's condition is critical and his recovery will take time, but he has made progress. On Monday night at the NFL Honors ceremony he shared his story of how God saved him from a collapse that could have claimed his life.

He was able to stand and walk around on the field in Cincinnati after being treated and resuscitated by medical professionals following a cardiac arrest suffered while tackling Bengals receiver Tee Higgin on January 2. The 24-year-old safety is expected to be released from a hospital later this week and is making progress toward returning to play football again.

Hamlin is making progress

After suffering a cardiac arrest on the field and needing to be resuscitated, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has begun his recovery journey. Though still in critical condition, his progress is encouraging; it appears his journey will go down as one of this year's most inspiring stories in football.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane says the 24-year-old will have at least two or three more appointments before a decision is made about his health.

Hamlin is currently receiving therapy to aid his breathing and is working towards being removed from the ventilator, an essential step in his recovery process. While it's too soon to predict whether Hamlin will make a full recovery, doctors are hopeful he can soon leave the hospital and return home.

Hamlin's family and teammates have rallied around him, providing moral support. Watching the team's 35-23 win against New England from his hospital bed has been a tremendous source of encouragement for him.

His family is deeply appreciative of everyone who has supported them during this trying time. They especially commend the medical personnel and staff on-site for their quick response in saving his life, as well as all those who expressed support in his honor.

Hamlin is being encouraged to play in Sunday's game against the Patriots, but there is no guarantee he will. The Bills must find a way of getting him onto the field so he can be evaluated again by medical professionals.

Allen Sills, the NFL's medical director, stated that he is still in the process of assessing Hamlin's situation and hasn't made any decisions yet on his future. Ultimately though, Hamlin will decide whether or not to return to play again.

Hamlin's medical status remains unchanged and he should be cleared to play again this week in Cincinnati, pending any final decisions from the Bills regarding his return. The team hasn't made a final determination yet regarding when Hamlin will return, but it appears likely that this week is looking promising for him in terms of playing time.

Hamlin’s story is inspirational

There are countless outside narratives surrounding the story of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, and it can be easy to get lost in the details. But at its core, Hamlin was saved, and now his life has a new purpose now that he's back to being Damar Hamlin.

On Saturday, Hamlin shared a six-minute video in which he expressed his gratitude to all those who have supported him since the incident. Additionally, he promised to keep helping out his hometown of McKees Rocks - where he was born and raised - by doing some volunteer work.

Hamlin has many goals outside of football. He plans to launch a toy drive that benefits kids in his community and launch a foundation that will give back to society.

Hamlin has always had a deep-seated love for his family and strives to leave behind a positive legacy. When Hamlin was 17, his parents' divorce had an impact on him; but through perseverance and perspective he managed to come out stronger than ever before.

Hamlin has endured a challenging childhood, yet his life is filled with joy. From an early age, Hamlin was determined to give back to his hometown.

After college, he started volunteering with a local nonprofit that helps kids learn to ride bikes. To raise funds for toys for these same kids in his hometown, he started an online fundraiser which has already exceeded its goal of $2,500.

Hamlin knew he had to do everything in his power to support his mother Nina and those close to him. That is why he volunteered at her daycare center, worked at a nearby homeless shelter, and cleaned offices.

He was an enthusiastic supporter of both his high school and college teams. After attending the University of Pittsburgh, he established himself as a three-year starter, amassing 67 tackles and seven pass breakups during his time there.
