Breaking Down Chris Brown's Response to the Incident at Lovers & Friends

Just when the controversy surrounding Chris Brown seemed to have subsided, new footage surfaced from Lovers & Friends this weekend showing him embroiled in an unidentified altercation reportedly caused by him attacking fellow singer Usher. According to TMZ reports, Chris is suspected of attacking Usher due to their history between them. Usher and Teyana Taylor remain silent on the incident and have refused to address rumors that there may have been an altercation at a party where they met up. What Happened? Lovers & Friends music festival was meant to be an enjoyable weekend of classic R&B and hip-hop nostalgia for fans, but events quickly took an unsettling turn on Saturday night when false reports of gunfire caused panicked attendees at Las Vegas venue to rush for exit. Witnesses to Missy Elliott's set reported hearing a loud bang that resembled gunfire, prompting some members of the crowd to flee towards an exit; several were then trampled during this panicked rush for safety; prompting event organizers to postpone further events until this emergency situation had been addressed. According to TMZ, three people were injured in the melee that ensued at the festival. Shortly after it was confirmed that there had been no gunfire incident reported, however many anxious attendees continued in their seats until things calmed down again. Chris Brown took to Instagram a short time later to downplay the severity of the altercation at an event at which he had participated, in response to video footage showing them involved in an intense exchange with another individual at the venue. Breezy can be seen approaching a man backstage, shouting at him and striking his shoulder before throwing up his arms and storming off stage. Fans were taken aback at this statement from Breezy as many wondered why he would treat someone so hostilely after recent incidents with Usher. Usher hosted a surprise birthday party for Brown last week at his home, but after getting into an argument the two became physical with each other - Usher's nose was reported bloodied during this altercation; however neither have commented publicly about their tensions. Who Was Involved? Chris Brown used social media to address footage from Sunday's Lovers & Friends event that showed possible backstage antics at Lovers & Friends that surfaced, including claims of possible backstage altercations by Usher, Lil Jon and Fat Joe who joined him onstage for the Lovers & Friends concert. Brown voiced many opinions regarding its coverage. Brown may have initiated his alleged backstage altercation after an apparent disagreement between himself and certain security personnel, as seen on video footage from that night's performance of "Run It!," where the singer can be heard shouting at them without giving much detail as to their circumstances. Once that footage and subsequent coverage reached online media platforms, Brown decided to address it on his Instagram story. In several videos posted by the rapper, he can be heard publicly calling out anyone still angry with him over his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna and noting his own experiences as victim of domestic violence in the past. One in three women experience intimate partner violence according to him; therefore it's time for everyone involved "to stop this madness. It was my mistake and I apologize sincerely." Brown also strongly condemned cancel culture and several white artists - particularly Drake - for their behavior towards black women. To end his tirade he told fans who still dislike him for assaulting "Umbrella" singer to kiss his "f-king ass." On Tuesday, he posted another set of Instagram updates in which he justified his actions: "It isn't easy being a celebrity and having to deal with this type of crap; and keeping both your career and family life together can be challenging." Brown was arrested earlier this year while fulfilling community service in Virginia for marijuana possession, and then was promptly expelled from a Malibu treatment facility when found to have violated his probation by attending a party without the appropriate restraining order in place. Ultimately released from prison after serving 131 days for this infraction on June 18, 2021 and ordered to complete 1,200 hours of community service as well as domestic violence counseling sessions, Brown remains free. What Was Breezy Doing? Breezy has recently been plagued by negative headlines related to an incident at this weekend's Lovers & Friends festival. Initial reports from TMZ indicated that Breezy got into a fight with Usher backstage at the event and caused injuries to his nose and face; however, Usher seemed unharmed during his performance the next night and Brown denied instigating it. 600 Breezy was recently interviewed by VladTV and discussed the incident that resulted in his arrest, along with some of its attendant controversies. Additionally, during this discussion he spoke about his music as well as any recent viral comparisons made to Michael Jackson. "Run It!" singer Adam Levine does not see how anyone could compare him with Michael Jackson as they both have had longer careers as artists. According to Adam, he has amassed many achievements over his longstanding career as an artist. Breezy also spoke about his early days in music, reflecting that he started out performing blues music underground and at small clubs before breaking out onto the mainstream music scene. At times he felt lost and disoriented during this transition period. He noted that while he still loved underground music and worked with independent artists, his focus now was more on mainstream releases and working with more artists from diverse genres for future projects. R&B singer R Kelly also discussed his latest album, Breezy. This project features Lil Durk, Capella Grey, Fivio Foreign, H.E.R and Wiz Kid across its 24 tracks; following 2019's Indigo it was released June 24, 2022 to mixed reviews from critics and fans, but still made Top 10 on Billboard 200 chart. Additionally he believes media support may not be there like before with previous efforts such as 2020 EP BRAINWASHED or 2021 EPs Fetus/TALES FROM KRYPT/ Bad Decisions respectively. Who Was He Intervening For? Reports circulated around Los Angeles of Chris Brown and Usher fighting at their joint birthday party last Friday have circulated, leading some to allege that Brown's entourage attacked Usher causing a bloody nose. Both stars have not commented publicly regarding what may have transpired, yet both appeared at Lovers & Friends the next night without visible injuries. However, the drama didn't end there: on Sunday new footage surfaced that appeared to show Brown involved in another backstage altercation at the Las Vegas festival. Brown took to Instagram in response to this footage and denied being the initiator this time around. In an Instagram post screenshotted by The Shade Room, the singer asserted he only intervened as security was trying to clear the stage and he wanted access to his child. Additionally, he claimed to be the first one trying to deescalate the situation by trying to deescalate it himself and didn't want the situation becoming an unpleasant scene that may make people think he is an unpleasant individual. Brown claimed he wasn't responsible for starting an argument between himself and another individual in attendance and that security had to intervene to restore order. At that moment, his daughter was backstage so he was acting in protective dad mode. Physical altercations is nothing new for Rihanna and has long been part of her story; with multiple incidents including domestic incidents, drug and alcohol arrests and anger management issues in 2009 alone. His history includes being charged with assaulting Rihanna as well as numerous domestic disputes, arrests for drug and alcohol use as well as anger management problems. Hopping that this marks an end to fighting rumors, we can all look forward to enjoying performances by Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and Busta Rhymes - tune into Dish Nation on Monday (May 7) to hear our hosts' opinions regarding any developments that arise from this latest round.
