Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most renowned and beloved professional baseball teams in history, having won nine World Series titles and 14 American League pennants to cement themselves as one of sports' greatest franchises. Additionally, they are beloved members of their hometown community of Boston as one of its most recognizable and beloved teams.

Through its long and successful history, the Red Sox have been owned and operated by various entities. In 1933 a wealthy yet shy young man named Tom Yawkey purchased the team, investing money into it. Two years later in 1939 they acquired Ted Williams - widely considered to be baseball's greatest hitter.

In 2002, Yawkey sold the Sox to a group of investors led by New England Sports Ventures. These new owners reorganized the team as a limited partnership and laid the groundwork for what would become known today as the Boston Red Sox organization.

Since then, the Sox have had an incredible record. In each of their first eight seasons, they made the playoffs twice and won two division titles and five American League pennants. Most recently in 2018, they set a franchise-record 108 games while winning their third World Series title - an amazing feat!

The Sox have made some mistakes along the way, but they have always managed to bounce back from them. In 2011, their 92-65 record earned them a place in the World Series against St. Louis Cardinals; six games later, they became the first team ever to win it after finishing last in their division a year earlier.

Aside from their illustrious past, the Red Sox boast some of sports' most recognizable logos. Mascot Wally the Green Monster has been featured in multiple films and their anthem, "Red Sox Anthem", was composed by Boston native Jimmy Hayes during 1902 season; it remains a popular rallying cry for team fans today.

Fenway Park

Fenway Park has been the beloved home of the Boston Red Sox since 1912 and remains a baseball fan's dream. As Major League Baseball's oldest ballpark, it has seen many renovations throughout its long history.

It has also hosted many concerts and other events such as Red Sox Baseball games. Furthermore, the stadium is renowned for hosting concerts by legendary artists like Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor and Def Leppard.

Fenway Park stands out among other stadiums with several distinctive features, one being the Green Monster in left field. This 37 foot high wall transforms line drives that would normally be considered home runs into "wall ball doubles" here in Boston.

Thomas Yawkey added the Green Monster in 1933 during his renovation of Fenway Park, along with other improvements such as replacing all seats with steel infill panels.

In addition to these modifications, the park had two prominent features: The Triangle and Pesky's Pole. These additions were intended to increase seating capacity in the stadium as well as enhance its atmosphere.

These features have contributed to creating an inviting atmosphere at the stadium and made it a great spot to watch baseball games. Furthermore, they offer visitors to the venue an engaging experience.

Fenway Park is known for many unique and captivating features, such as its metric distances set in 1976, first electronic message board and trough urinals in public restrooms. Fans love to experience all that Fenway has to offer!

One notable feature is the foul ball screen behind home plate, which was the first such screen in professional baseball and serves to retrieve home run balls that land in foul territory.

The Red Sox Stadium has been a beloved tourist destination for over 100 years, making it an essential stopover for any fan of the Red Sox or baseball enthusiasts visiting Boston for the first time.

Boston Skyline

Boston is the birthplace of the American Revolution, home to world-class educational institutions and the Red Sox, as well as having a rich history. As such, it makes for great photography opportunities, with plenty of iconic landmarks and buildings that can be captured from any angle.

This iconic New England city stands as a testament to its youthful nature, boasting an impressive skyline compared to other US cities. Since the late 1960s, Boston has experienced an unprecedented building boom, with numerous skyscrapers and landmarks springing up like mushrooms in springtime.

One of the best places to take in all of Boston's skyline is from Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Here you'll be able to admire TD Garden, State Street Building, Prudential Tower, John Hancock Tower and Leonard P. Zakim Bridge from a unique vantage point.

A leisurely walk around Back Bay will reveal several other stunning landmarks such as Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. The Old Customs House, a tall tower on the corner of Quincy Market, has been a major tourist attraction for over 150 years; it has been renovated and now houses hotels and restaurants.

The First National Bank Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the Financial District, is an impressive sight at night with its bright lights illuminating the city's iconic skyline. What's most remarkable about it though is its cleverly designed facade made up of three layers of glass - making it both environmentally friendly and a stunning feature to behold!

Boston Globe

The Boston Globe is one of the nation's most esteemed newspapers, known for their investigative reporting and scoops - especially on local issues. They've won multiple Pulitzer Prizes and enjoyed great success. Additionally, The Globe has long been associated with their coverage of the Red Sox and their legacy.

The Globe was established in 1872 and remains a family-owned paper today, being the oldest newspaper in Massachusetts. It was founded by Eben Jordan - owner of Jordan Marsh department store - with assistance from other businessmen. At that time, issues cost four cents each; however, due to losses caused by the Great Boston Fire of 1872 and low circulation levels, circulation initially suffered greatly.

At first, the paper focused on local news. Over time, however, they expanded their coverage of social movements in Boston, giving them an edge over other papers in New England.

They made a name for themselves by covering breaking news stories, especially related to the Vietnam war. As the third newspaper in America (after Washington Post and New York Times) to publish excerpts from the Pentagon Papers, they quickly gained notoriety for their reporting.

Their success has also spawned a series of scandals. In 1998, The Globe was forced to remove two star columnists after allegations were leveled that they were fabricating quotes and characters.

In 2001, The Boston Globe editor was fired for mishandling a sexual abuse case. Additionally, they were sued in 2006 over an editorial that appeared in their paper.

The Globe was known for being a liberal advocate, yet its editorial board was staunchly conservative. While endorsing Democratic candidates Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, former Massachusetts Senator John Kerry in 2004, and former Vice President Al Gore in 2000, The Globe had also supported Republican nominee Donald Trump since 2008.

In 1971, The Globe earned a Pulitzer Prize for its investigation of an extensive municipal scandal in Toronto. This marked the beginning of many investigations that would ultimately result in profound reforms.

The Boston Globe has a distinguished and long-running history that includes publishing the Pentagon Papers. They are an established newspaper with over 150 years of experience in news reporting. Furthermore, The Globe has evolved into a multimedia hub for breaking stories across multiple platforms.
