Al Horford Shares A LeBron Playoff Story That Left Him Shook

Al Horford has had the chance to face off against LeBron James five times during the playoffs and was amazed at how much work goes into each game as the King prepares. He said it's an amazing feat that Horford can keep up with such an accomplished athlete.

Al's luck wasn't quite so fortunate when he joined the Atlanta Hawks; he only played 277 minutes of game one and ultimately didn't get to complete the series due to injury.

LeBron James

Al Horford's career has been heavily rooted in the Eastern Conference, where he's faced off against LeBron James multiple times. Whether it be with Boston Celtics or Atlanta Hawks, Horford has lost multiple games to the four-time NBA MVP during playoff series.

Horford recalls one particularly difficult memory from his hectic schedule: losing Game 7 of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals, which put into perspective just how hard James works to stay physically fit.

Between Horford's tenure with the Hawks and his final year in Cleveland, he faced off four times against James in playoff games - each time losing.

He recalled the most heartbreaking game as Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Recalling it, it was a tough contest and the Celtics were on fire - up 11 points in the fourth quarter and holding onto their lead until Shelvin Mack hit an overtime 3-pointer to seal it.

In the final moments, Shelvin Mack's ball slid across the rim and clanged off of it before bouncing away. The crowd was in disbelief as it appeared as if the game had come to an end.

With 36.4 seconds left, James hit a 3-pointer and then dropped another runner for Cleveland to take an unassailable lead. It will remain an unforgettable moment in basketball history - particularly for Horford himself.

Horford would go on to have one of his most remarkable playoff runs, leading the Cavaliers to their first NBA title.

Horford shared this week on Facebook and Twitter his reflections of his time in the East. He noted how impressive all the teams are, but one thing could really bring them down - a LeBron James game.

The Cavaliers have had an incredible season and now look to build on that success by progressing further in the postseason. Led by David Blatt, their roster boasts an incredibly talented roster. But before they can reach their goal, they must overcome many formidable opponents. While this challenge will be tough, it provides them with a chance to prove they deserve a spot in next year's NBA Finals.

Boston Celtics

On Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Finals series, when Boston Celtics star Al Horford faced off against Cleveland Cavaliers, it was an experience that left him shaken. At 35 years old, Horford had played 141 playoff games but none on such a grand stage before. But he came through for his team in that game, leading them to victory that sent the series back to Cleveland.

Horford said this moment served as a reminder of why he chose basketball in the first place. As his family worked hard to reach their objectives, Horford took inspiration from them when he began playing professionally.

Horford has been with the Celtics for five seasons now, becoming an essential part of a young core that includes Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. His contributions have allowed them to develop into a team capable of competing at the top of the Eastern Conference. Fans seem to love his calm voice and easygoing personality as much as he does.

Horford has always taken his teammates' wellbeing into consideration throughout his career, always making sure they know how much he values them. That is why James has taken notice of Horford's ability to assist his teammates both on and off the court over time.

LeBron has taken note of Horford's contribution to his team's offense. Additionally, he's taken notice of Horford's ability to get great defenders to pull away from the paint.

Horford has been able to score on a variety of shots, such as open threes and jumpers, which has been an important factor in Boston's playoff success.

With just under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Boston was trailing by nine points against Cleveland. A Horford jumper and Smith dunk gave Boston a seven-point edge. But Cleveland went on an incredible run, with LeBron and Kevin Love hitting clutch jumpers to pull within two possessions of Boston.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have an opportunity to make history this season. They are up 3-0 in their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Toronto Raptors, and got a huge boost this week with James Harden's addition.

No matter if they can overcome the Raptors, it would still be a major victory for the 76ers, especially given their injury history and recent playoff failures. After losing in four of the last five years, they could potentially miss out on the first round altogether if something extraordinary occurs over the coming days.

Though much of the NBA has been focused on the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers thus far this season, there's plenty to like about the Philadelphia 76ers as well. They're a young team with plenty of star power that has been on a roll lately; winning 10 out of their last 12 games.

Philadelphia is a young team led by potential MVP candidate Joel Embiid, who has been working tirelessly to establish himself as one of the game's premier big men. Philadelphia faces an uphill battle to overcome Toronto, but if they can do it they could have an excellent shot at their first NBA title.

In Game 1 of their first-round series against the Raptors, Tyrese Maxey provided the Sixers with a huge lift despite all of the pressure. He hit 14 of 21 shots including five 3-pointers to lead them to an emphatic 131-111 win in Game 1.

Maxey made an impressive debut, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to score 30-plus points in a playoff game. His contribution was key in the 76ers' Game 1 victory as they went on an incredible run that gave them a commanding 1-0 series lead over the Raptors.

The 76ers have a lot riding on, and could make their final playoff run with this current core. If they want to remain in contention for a championship, they need to deliver big results over the next few weeks.

Al Horford

Horford's most significant moment in this season's playoffs was Game 7 against the Cleveland Cavaliers - a night he will never forget. His performance gave him an enormous lift in the closing minutes as he led his team with 14 rebounds, making sure to make an impact on defense as well.

Horford displayed his dedication to his team's victory by persevering despite their poor shooting numbers in Game 7. Despite having only six shots taken against James, Horford still provided the spark his team needed. Furthermore, his post-up game and defensive performance were outstanding, stopping James from scoring and blocking two shots.

This postseason, the big man has demonstrated everything the Boston Celtics need in a player. He's versatile enough to fit into any matchup and carry the load when his coach needs him to. He provides space for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown by opening up the floor for them both. Additionally, he's an impressive screener who can pull in weakside defenders to make plays on offense.

As the Celtics prepare for their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat, they must ensure Al Horford remains on the court. His presence is something no team can afford to lose during this postseason.

His impact has been felt across the league, and it's easy to understand why. He's an inspiring leader, an incredibly compassionate player, and a teammate you can count on when needed.

Horford may not have been quite the same player he was last year, but he's still made an impact in his second stint with the Celtics. He serves as a rock and source of strength for his teammates and team as a whole; playing an integral role in their ascent to success.

Throughout the playoffs, he's grown more comfortable playing with LeBron James - who has been an integral factor in their success - and Kyrie Irving as well, who has been a big help this postseason in terms of scoring and taking care of the ball.
